| Stefan
Jansen returns to Den Bosch? |
10 July 2002
|
|
Stefan Jansen looks set to move from NEC to Den
Bosch, where he's seen as the replacement for Bart van den Eede, after the
two clubs agreed terms. Jansen joined the Nijmegen side in 2001 from TOP
Oss as the Eerste Divisie top-scorer but failed to live up to expectations
and was told at the end of the season that he could leave. If the deal
goes through it'll be a return to familar territory for the striker who'd
arrived in Den Bosch in 1993, scoring 19 goals in 39 matches before moving
on to play for Cambuur Leeuwarden. He then went abroad to Italy during
the1996/97 and 1997/98 seasons where he played for, amongst others,
Salernitana.

debut for Excelsior in the 1985/1986 season. Excelsior-trainer Adrie
Koster announced that he was looking for experienced players to reinforce
his young squad and Latuheru fits the bill with 492 league matches undre

| Neeskens
uninterested in assistant van Gaal |
12 May 2002
|
|
NEC
trainer and former Dutch international Johan Neeskens has said that he has
no intentions whatsoever in a reunion with Louis Van Gaal as his assistant manager
if/ when Van Gaal returns to
Barcelona. Neeskens stated on Dutch television "I am my own boss now,
I was Gus Hiddink and Frank Rijkaard's assistant for four
years when they were in charge of Holland. Now I would only accept managerial job offers and
certainly not
ones as an assistant!!"

| Hristov
signs for one more year with NEC |
07 May 2002
|
|
Georgi Hristov has signed a one-year deal with
his current club NEC. The Macedonian international, who had attracted the
interest of Twente and Willem II, decided to remain with NEC because of
the way NEC have supported him during his injury problems
this season. Hristov said "I
received offers
from Twente and Willem II but decided to sign new deal with NEC! I'm very
pleased that my club continued to have faith in me while I was injured and now I can
pay them back with a lot of goals.
I'm also very happy now because I can play for the national team without
problems. It will be great to return and play against teams such as
England and Turkey."

| NEC
let Tumba and Jansen go |
07 May 2002
|
| NEC
have told Zico Tumba and Stefan Jansen that they can start looking for a
new club. Both players joined the Nijmegen side last summer, from De
Graafschap and TOP Oss respectively. Jansen was the Eerste Divisie's top
scorer last season but has failed to produce the goods in the Ere Divisie.
They lost their places in the lineup to Frank Demouge, who's just had his
contract renewed, and Dennis de Nooijer who was on loan from Heerenveen
but has just signed a permanent deal. Macedonian striker Gorgi Hristov has
also just signed a new deal after returning from long-term injury which
means there's not enough room in Nijmegen for that many forwards.

Nijmegen on 7 goals) has signed up till 2005 and De Nooijer (on loan from
Heerenveen) has signed a contract for one season. Youth player Ralf de
Haan has also been signed up on a new deal till 2005 - the 18 year-old
will be training parttime with the 1st team squad next season.

| AZ
crush NEC 5-0 |
28 Apr 2002
|
AZ
lineup: Moens, Wolters, Wijker, Fortes, Opdam, Robbemond, Buskermolen, Van
Galen, Huiberts, Perez, Bosman.
NEC lineup: Gentenaar,
Schuurman, Hesp, Wisgerhof, Leiwakabessy, Simr, Wielaert, Latuheru, Ax,
Demouge, Dennis de Nooijer.
AZ crushed NEC 5-0 in the
Alkmaarderhout stadium this afternoon. Veteran 37 year-old Johnny Bosman celebrated his decision to
hang up his boots at the end of the season with 2 goals in the 4th and
35th minutes (his 250th and 251st). Bosman made his debut in 1983 in the 5-2
between Ajax and Roda when he scored once! He then went on to put lots of them
away for Ajax, KV Mechelen, PSV, Anderlecht, Twente, AZ and Oranje!
His successor, Robin Nelisse, also left his calling card this afternoon with a
hattrick (56th, 64th, 74th). It was more than
enough to seal the points for the Alkmaarders but there is no change in
their ranking, they stay 12th, and ther's none in 9th placed NEC's either.

| NEC
and Den Bosch draw 1-1 |
21 Apr 2002
|
| NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Koning, Maes, Leiwakabessy, Van Rijswijk,
Wielaert, Latuheru, Simr, Tumba and Demouge.
Den
Bosch lineup: Mampaey, Faerber, Van der Hoorn, Uneken, Van Kapel,
Mourad, Deckers, Michels, Van de Laak, De Freitas and Van den Eede.
Den Bosch trotted out their tried and
trusted 'realistic', defensive football this afternoon, leaning way back
in defence while still creating the best chances at goal. Their much-coveted
Belgian striker Bart van den Eede put the visitors ahead in the 52nd
minute. Dennis de Nooijer pulled one out of the hat in the 80th minute
for the Nijmegen team to draw level and a last minute spot-shot in the
90th was put away by Bart Latuheru to give NEC the points. Den Bosch will
be frustrated not to have put some more points between them and their
close neighbours Groningen and De Graafschap. They stay in 14th on 33
points from 32 played while NEC stay 9th on 45 from 32, just behind 8th
placed RKC on goal average.

| Latuheru
no longer needed by NEC |
30 Mar
2002
|
|
Bart
Latuheru has been told that he is no longer needed by NEC. The 36
year-old midfielder was both surprised and somewhat irritated by the news,
saying that the club had given him no explanation as to why he must go.
NEC's technical director Leen Looyen stated in a news conference that when a
player reached 36/37 years of age it was time for them to quit football.
NEC have also informed several other of their veterans that they are no
longer needed and can start looking for another club: Richard Goulooze, Luuk Maes and Adilson Ben David dos
Santos

30 Mar
2002
|
|
NEC have signed RKC forward Dejan
Govedarcia. The ex-Yugoslavian
international signed a 2 year contract with the club after refusing an
invitation to play for Den Bosch. NEC have hired Ajax midfielder, and Dutch youth
international, Youssef Hersi (currently on hire to
NAC)for next season.
|
| Heerenveen
beat NEC 4 - 0 |
24 Mar 2002
|
Heerenveen
lineup: Hans Vonk, Ronnie Venema, Arek Radomski, Arjen Ebbinge, Erik Edman,
Mika Nurmela, Stefan Selakovic, Daniël Jensen, Romano Denneboom (Jesper
Hakansson), Marcus Allbäck (74. Jeffrey Talan), Saïd Bakkati.
NEC
lineup: Dennis Gentenaar, Resit Schuurman (58. Mike Owusu), Peter
Wisgerhof, Danny Hesp, Jeffrey Leiwakabessy, Jarda Simr, Rob Wielaert,
Bart Latuheru, Patrick Ax (64. René van Rijswijk), Dennis de Nooijer,
Frank Demouge.
In spite of Heerenveen losing to Ajax last week in the Amsterdam
Arena, they could still pose a threat to the Top 3 clubs' title ambitions as
they climb back into 3rd position.
Heerenveen could haved the score in the 2nd minute but Allbäck's shot
hit the wrong side of the post. However, 10 minutes later he did find
the back of the net, rounding off a Denneboom cross for Heerenveen's
1st. In the 27th minute NEC defender Simr lost control of his senses,
passing the ball to Heerenveen's Jensen, who had no trouble in
slotting home the 2 - 0. In the 37th minute Romano Dennenboom dribbled pass 4 NEC defenders before delivering a made-to-measure cross for
Nurmela to head home. The second half turned out to be far less entertaining than the first half. Selakovic scored
for the 4 - 0
from close range in the last minute. Heerenveen
have now won 8th consecutive home games on the trot and, after last night's
win, find themselves 1 point iahead of PSV and just 1
point behind Feyenoord.

| RKC
beat NEC 2 - 1 |
17 Mar 2002
|
| RKC
lineup: Sinouh, Van Diemen, Govedarica, Van den Berg, De Graef,

NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Leiwakabessy, Van
Rijswijk, Wielaert, Latuheru, Ax, Dennis de Nooijer and Jansen.
The Waalwijkers had the best
chances and NEC played the better football this afternoon. The home team
went ahead when Jochen Janssen scored in the 27th minute but Dennis de
Nooijer equalized for NEC in the 56th. RKC clinched the points as Garry
de Graef snatched a lucky, last minute goal when his shot was deflected
off René van Rijswijk and into the back of the net in the 89th minute.
RKC remain 8th on 38 points from 27 games while NEC also stay where they
were in 9th on 39 points from 27 played.

| NEC
beat De Graafschap 3 - 1 |
13 Mar 2002
|
| NEC
lineup: Van der Sleen, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Leiwakabessy, Latuheru,
Wielaert, Van Rijswijk, Ax, Dennis de Nooijer and Jansen.
De
Graafschap lineup: Postma, Nok, Bakens, Berck Beelenkamp,
Berendsen, Meerdink, Van den Brom, Van Leerdam, Valeev, Van der Haar and
Schulp.
NEC looked set for a 0 - 1 home defeat
against the Doetinchemmers (despite their missing several injured
regulars: Van Vossen, Vreman and Van der Kruis plus the suspended Bot and
Fränkel) after Hans van der Haar put the visitors ahead
in the 30th minute. The home team worked hard but made a poor impression
with overly-defensive football until a hectic spell towards the end saw 3 goals hit the back of the net. Dennis de
Nooijer put away the first in the 87th, Marcel Koning and Bart Latuheru
adding another two in the 90th to give the Nijmegen side a flattering
result.

| Erik
Wegh signs contract extension |
12 Mar 2002
|
| NEC's
Erik Wegh has signed a contract extension keeping him at "De
Goffert" stadium for another season. The 22 year-old midfielder
arrived from Vitesse two years ago, making his debut for them as a
substitute in the 1 - 4 home defeat by Roda on May 20th, 2001 and has
played in 6 matches under Johan Neeskens (5 of the 6 as a substitute).

| NEC
beat Willem II 3 - 0 |
10 Mar 2002
|
| NEC
lineup: Van der Sleen, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Leiwakabessy, Wielaert,
Jansen, Van Rijswijk, Ax, Latuheru and Dennis de Nooijer.
Willem
II lineup: De Vlieger, Jaliens, J. Mathijsen, Van Nieuwstadt,
Janssens, Landzaat, D. Mathijssen, Caluwé, Ceesay, Mariana and Shoukov.
NEC were untroubled by Willem II
during theng 45 minutes and Dennis de Nooijerd the score in
the 31st minute. Stefan Jansen was given a chance to show some of the form
which made him last season's Eerste Divisie top scorer, while at TOP Oss,
scoring in the 35th. The striker and his coach Johan Nesskens will be glad
he's finally found the back of the net after a disappointing start in
Nijmegen. After the break there were some signs of recovery by the
visitors but after Danny Hesp headed in a 3rd in the 59th they lost all
fight. The win gives NEC 3 valuable points, lifting
them from 14th into 9th place, on 32 points from 25 played, while the
"Tricolores" drop to 11th on 31 points from 26 played.
|
| Twente
beat NEC 2 - 0 |
03 Mar 2002
|
| Twente
lineup: Boschker, El-Brazi, Pothuizen, Grujic, Heubach, Cziommer, Van der
Doelen, Van de Paar, Van der Laan, Caïro and De Gier.
Feyenoord
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Koning, Wisgerhof, Maes, Van Rijswijk,
Wielaert, Latuheru, Ax, Simr and Dennis de Nooijer.
Twente have struggled for so long this
season under John van 't Schip but the "Tukkers" finally seem to
be back on track, can hold their heads up again and jump
3 places from 13th to 10th with another well
earned 3 points after this win against NEC. They were the better team and
had little trouble controlling the match. Jack de Gier put them ahead in
the 35th minute and Jeroen Heubach made it 2 - 0 in the 74th. Twente are
10th on 31 points from 25 played while NEC drop a
place to 13th on 29 points from 24.

| Demouge
out longer after nose operation |
26 Feb 2002
|
| NEC
will miss Frank Demouge for longer than originally expected.
He's still
recovering from a knee injury
but has also just undergone surgery on his
nose to deal with a breathing problem that has been leaving him short of
breath. For those of you who like the gory details, a polyp has been
removed which was obstructing the flow of air and the 19 year-old striker
will now be out of action for another 3 weeks.

miss Demouge/Hristov resumes training |
22 Feb 2002
|
| NEC
will miss their young striker Franke Demouge when they face De Graafschap
tonight. The 19 year-old picked up a knee injury in training and it's
unclear exactly how long he'll be out of action. Good news for the
Nijmegen side is that Gjorgi Hristov has resumed training for the first
time
since his knee operation in January. The Macedonian striker played
his last match in the 1 - 0 win against Vitesse on October 14th.
|
| NEC's
Van Rijswijk extends contract |
19 Feb 2002
|
| René
van Rijswijk has extended his contract with NEC till the summer of 2004.
The 31 year-old made his professional debut on August 15th 1993 for RKC
Waalwijk in their away match against Ajax (3-0). He joined NEC from
Cambuur during the summer of 1999 and has played 86 games, scoring just
once.

| NEC
outclassed by PSV 0 - 4 |
16 Feb 2002
|
| NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Maes, Simr, Wielaert,
Latuheru, Koning, Ax and Dennis de Nooijer.
PSV
lineup: Lodewijks, Bøgelund, Ooijer, Nikiforov, Bouma, Rommedahl, Van
Bommel, Vogel, Ramzi, Bruggink and Vennegoor of Hesselink.
NEC fielded a lone striker Dennis de Nooijer
tonight with the result that they were fine in defence during theng
half but created fewngs to score. Patrick Ax missed the only
opportunity of the 1st half, wasting Jard Simr's good work. At the other
end Bruggink had a chance early on in the match but it wasn't until the
stroke of halftime, and Vennegoor of Hesselink headed wide, that PSV
threatened goalie Gentenaar again. Danish international Dennis
Rommedahl finallyd the throttle on the 'Eindhoven Engine' with a
goal in the 51st, putting away a rebound from substitute Georgi Gakhokidze's
shot. Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink headed in a 2nd 3 minutes later and PSV
rolled on home with a deserved goal for Georgi Gakhokidze and Vennegoor of Hesselink got his 2nd of the evening in the 83rd.

| Utrecht
lose unbeaten record to NEC 1 - 4 |
10 Feb 2002
|
| Utrecht
lineup: Wapenaar, Touzani, Roest, Zwaanswijk, Van Mol, Tanghe, Jean-Paul
de Jong, Bosschaart, Van den Bergh, Gluscevic and Kuijt.
NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Hesp, Wisgerhof, Maes, Simr, Wielaert,
Latuheru, Ax, Dennis de Nooijer and Demouge.
Utrecht must have been wondering
what the hell happened as they woke up, as if from a nightmare, to find
themselves 0 - 3 down (at home of all places) after only 7 minutes.
Patrick Ax put away the 1st in theng minute, Danny Hesp added a 2nd
in the 3rd and Ax got his 2nd in the 6th minute for the 0 - 3 knockout.
Paulus Roiha got one back in the 65th but Frank Demouge restored the gap
with a 4th for the Nijmegen side in the 68th. Patrick Zwaanswijk was sent
off just before time in the 88th. The surprise defeat ends the Domstad
side's long unbeaten home record and they stay where they are in 8th
place on 34 points from 23 played and NEC move up one place to 9th on 29
from 22 played.

| NEC
and Sparta draw 1 - 1 |
01 Feb 2002
|
| NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Hesp, Wisgerhof, Leiwakabessy, Simr,
Latuheru, Wielaert, Dennis de Nooijer, Demouge and Van Rijswijk.
Sparta
lineup: Kooiman, Mendes, Winter, Goossen, Van der Meer, Bouchiba, Zijm,
Blinker, Sanou, B. Marbus and Conteh.
The first half hour belonged to
Sparta, the last to NEC in a match where both teams failed to convert the
chances they had into goals-on-the-board. The Rotterdammers dominated theng spell against a weakly-operating home team, only Dennis
Gentenaar's good-keeping kept the damage to one 1st half goal, David
Mendes da Silva the scorer in the 33rd minute. After the break new signing
Ousmane Sanou hit the post for the visitors as Sparta continued to look
better but Dennis de Nooijer scored a bit of a surprise equalizer in the
65th. The Spartans closed ranks and did their best to hold onto their
point till the final whistle while NEC's Simr and Danny Hesp both had the
perfect opportunity to score for the Nijmegen side but somehow managed to
miss their targets.
NEC remain 10th on 26 points from 21 played while their opponents are 16th
on 20 from 20 after their 8th draw of the season.

| NEC
sign Wilaert and Owusu |
30 Jan 2002
|
NEC
have signed a contract with defender/midfielder Rob Wilaert which runs
from July 2002 till the summer of 2006. The 23 year-old was on loan to Den
Bosch last season and gained promotion to the Ere Divisie with them before
returning to Eindhoven. Once back with PSV he played a few matches
(including C-L appearances) due to the injuries of various colleagues
before being lent out to NEC. He's grateful that Johan Neeskens has given
him the chance to develop in his favourite central midfield
position.
In the meantime, Swedish striker Mike Owusu, who impressed during recent
trials, has reached a verbal agreement with the Nijmegen side and will be
signing on the dotted line for them till 2003.
|
| Vitesse
beat NEC 2 - 1 |
27 Jan 2002
|
| Vitesse
lineup: Jevric, Tim Cornelisse, Stefanovic, Dingsdag, Nanu, Fortes, Van
der Schaaf, Hofs, Sikora, Peeters and Martel.
NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Hesp, Wisgerhof, Leiwakabessy, Simr,
Latuheru, Wielaert, Dennis de Nooijer, Demouge and Van Rijswijk.
Vitesse won the Gelderland derby,
trainer Edwin Sturing fielding a young side with Michael Dingsdag in a
central defending role and a debut for A-junior Nicky Hofs. Hofs had a
great game in an attacking midfield role and showed some good handling of
the ball - a talent to be watched and enjoyed! Another teenager, Frank Demouge, put the visitors
ahead in the 10th minute but (Burnley-bound) Bob Peeters equalized in the
25th and Remco van der Schaaf put away a spot-shot for the 2 - 1 in the
49th minute. Vitesse remain unbeaten in the Gelredome this season and are
now 7th on 33 from 20 while NEC are 11th on 25 from 20 played.

22 Jan 2002
|
| NAC
are hoping to sign NEC's Marcel Koning when his contract runs out at the
end of the season in Nijmegen where he's played 190 matches, scoring 20
goals. The midfielder has been offered a contract
for 4 years with the Breda side, if he passes the obligatory medical
examination. The 27 year-old joined NEC in 1995 from ADO Den Haag but has
only played 12 matches this season, 8 of those as a substitute, and has
been labelled as 'injury-prone' by his current employer who are not
planning to exend his contract this summer.

| Hristov
has new knee operation |
09 Jan 2002
|
| NEC's
Macedonian striker (and the club's top-scorer last season) Gjorgi Hristov
has had a new operation to try and sort out a problem with an artificial
tendon in his right knee. The 25 year-old was operated on the same knee in
October and will now be out of action for another two months, in fact it's
even doubtful whether he'll be able to regain the same level of fitness
and performance. It leaves NEC with a bit of a problem as they have an
option to extend his contract which runs out this summer! |
| Neeskens
extends contract with NEC |
22 Dec 2001
|
| NEC's
coach Johan Neeskens has extended his contract with the club till the end
of 2003 - the former Dutch international joined the Nijmegen side in 2000.
He started his off-pitch career as assistant to Frank Rijkaard, when they
both looked after Oranje, and NEC are the first team the former Ajax
and Barcelona player has coached himself, reaching 12th place in the Ere
Divisie in 2000/2001 and currently in 10th place on 22 points from 18
games.
|
| NEC
beat Heerenveen 1 - 0 |
16 Dec 2001
|
| NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Wielaert, Leiwakabessy, Simr,
Latuheru, Demouge, Van Rijswijk, Dennis de Nooijer and Ax.
Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Bakkati, Gérard de Nooijer, Klompe, Edman, Jensen,
Radomski, Talan, Nurmela, Denneboom and Lurling.
NEC just can't seem to score this
season - they are currently the least productive side in the Ere Divisie
(even Fortuna have now score more goals after the 2 they put away on
Friday against Roda!). Dennis de Nooijer ( hired out by the Frieslanders
to the Nijmegen side since this week) 'created' the lone goal when his
pass was sent past Hans Vonk for an own goal by Tieme Klompe in the 77th
to deny Heerenveen the points. They slip to 4th place as PSV leapfrog them
into 3rd while NEC are tucked away in 10th.
|
| De
Nooijer on loan to NEC |
11 Dec 2001
|
| Heerenveen
are lending Dennis de Nooijer to NEC for the rest of the season. The
striker has been without a regular place in the team and spent a part of
last season on loan to his old club Sparta (where he'd played for 11
seasons). "Mighty Swede" Marcus Allbäck's arrival has kept him
out of the eleven and he recently had a trial with German side MSV
Duisburg.
|
| NEC
offer Mike Owusu trial |
05 Dec 2001
|
| NEC
have offered a week's trial to Nigerian Mike Owusu who currently turns out
for Swedish side Orgryte. The 24 year-old former Malmo defender will be
transfer-free at the end of the current season up north and also has a
Swedish passport which makes it no problem for him to play in
Holland.

| Sparta
and NEC in goalless draw |
02 Dec 2001
|
| Sparta
lineup: Kooiman, Sier, Mendes, Goossen, Van der Meer, Bouchiba, Winter,

NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Leiwakabessy, Van Rijswijk,
Wielaert, Latuheru, Ax, Simr and Jansen.
NEC were reduced to 10 men when
Peter Wisgerhof got a red card in the 33rd. Sparta put the Nijmegen
side under plenty of pressure, especially in the 2nd half, without result.
Dennis Gentenaar put in one hell of a performance, the woodwork stopped
the rest while Sparta were unable to
profit from their numerical advantage and the match ended without a single
goal being scored.

the 50th minute. Bart Latuheru equalized a minute later (51st), Glen

lineup: Wapenaar - Vreven, Roest, Zwaanswijk, Bosschaart - Tanghe,
Jean-Paul de Jong, van Mol, van den Bergh - Gluscevic, Kuyt
Utrecht earn a valuable 3 away
points to keep them in touch with the top five with this strong performance in
Nijmegen which was NEC's 600th professional defeat. Jean-Paul de Jong put
away the 1st goal of the afternoon in the 52nd minute (the first Ere
Divisie goal NEC have conceded at home since Feyenoortd's 0 - 3 win on
September 8th). Stefaan Tanghe scored the 2nd in the 64th
and Dave van den Bergh put away the 3rd in the 72nd.

| NEC's
Hristov injured again |
21 Nov 2001
|
| Gjorgi
Hristov is having a tough season - the 25 year-old had just recovered from
a groin injury which has kept him out of action this season when he
developed fluid in his right knee during training. The Macedonian striker
will have an MRI scan in the next 7 days to see how bad the damage is.

| NEC
trial for Finnish duo |
20 Nov 2001
|
| NEC
have offered two Finnish youth internationals a trial.
20 year-old
defender Tuomas Aho and the 19 year-old midfielder Antti Okkonen.
The duo currently play for MyPa and represented Finland's Under 19 team in
last summer's World Cup for Under 19s in Argentina. They have been given a
week in which to impress the Nijmegen side who are also looking into the
possibility of setting up a cooperation pact with the Finnish
club.
|
| PSV
beat NEC 3 - 1 |
17 Nov 2001
|
| PSV
lineup: Waterreus, Ooijer,
Faber, Hofland, Heintze, Lucius, John de Jong, Bogelund, Bruggink,
Vennegoor of Hesselink and Bouma.
NEC
lineup: Gentenaar,
Schuurman, Hesp, Wisgerhof, Leiwakabessy, Simr, Latuheru, Wielaert, Ax,
Jansen and Tumba.
PSV
began well but again made things as difficult as possible for themselves
in the rest of the match. Bruggink and
Bøgelund missed the firstngs and Wilfred
Bouma headed in an
Ooijer pass in the 3rd minute to give them an early lead. They then refused to press home their
advantage and allowed the visitors to get into the match, Jarda Simr
equalizing in the 34th. It was Waterreus's good
goalkeeping in the 2nd half that prevented them from giving away any more
goals. NEC's goalie Gentenaar 'interfered' with Vennegoor of Hesselink,
giving André
Ooijer the chance to put away the spot shot in the 53rd for the 2 - 1. NEC's Resit Schuurman got a red
card in the 64th leaving NEC with only 10 men but PSV failed to cash in on
their chance and an uninspired performance was rounded off when Dennis Rommedahl took the final score to 3 - 1 in the
87th. The points take them into a much more respectable 5th place but the
fans remain unconvinced (as their whistles so clearly communicated).

| Zonnenveld
fears longterm injury |
15 Nov 2001
|
| Mike
Zonneveld fears he may be out of action for a long time after picking up
an injury in Jong Oranje's match against England on Tuesday. NEC's
left-back was playing a good match in the left-half position when he
blocked the ball and felt a shooting pain in his left knee.
|
| NEC
beat AZ 1 - 0 |
03 Nov 2001
|
| NEC
lineup: Van der Sleen, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Zonneveld, Simr,
Wielaert, Latuheru, Ax, Tumba and Jansen.
AZ
lineup: Moens, Lee, Wijker, Opdam, El Hadrioui, Boussatta, Robbemond,
Buskermolen, Van Galen, Nelisse and Elkhattabi.
NEC are doing fine at home with 5
wins out of the last 6 games and they controlled the match until the last
20 minutes when, after Urvin Lee got a red card in the 69th for a supposed
head-butt, the disadvantage of playing out the match with 10 men
'inspired' AZ to have a go at scoring some goals! Van der Sleen, replacing
the injured Gentenaar, managed to keep them at bay and maintains their run
of home games without conceding a goal. Resit Schuurman put away the
match-winner in the 54th minute.
|
| Gentenaar
3-6 weeks out/Scan for Hristov |
30 Oct 2001
|
| NEC's
goalkeeper Dennis Gentenaar has picked up a serious foot injury in
training and will be out of action for between 3 and 6 weeks. In the
meantime it's still unclear what exactly Gorgi Hristov is suffering from -
he's going into hospital shortly for a scan, after other forms of
examination failed to reveal the source of the discomfort he's
experiencing in his abdomen and groin area.
|
| Peter
Wisgerhof signs for NEC |
29 Oct 2001
|
| Peter
Wisgerhof, on loan
since last year from Vitesse, will be signing a contract with NEC for
three and a half years in January next year. The clubs reached agreement
on the terms of the transfer today. The 21 year-old defender has become a
regular face in the Nijmegen lineup, playing 34 games for them last
season and appearing in all their matches this season (scoring 4 goals). |
| NEC
beat Twente 2 - 0 |
21 Oct 2001
|
| NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Wielaert, Zonneveld,
Latuheru, Ax, Simr, Tumba and Jansen.
Twente
lineup: Boschker, Van der Weerden, Grujic, Pothuizen, Polak, Van der Laan,
Van der Doelen, Van der Leegte, Ten Hag, Booth and Kollmann.
The "Tukkers" seem to
have learned nothing from their 4 - 1 UEFA Cup defeat in Zurich, where
they gave the match away to "Grasshoppers" while having the
chances to win. Today they let valuable league points slip after again
being given enough chances to score - Scottish striker Scott Booth had the
best of the whole match. NEC won despite not being particularly convincing
themselves - a mistake by Chris van der Weerden gave Patrick Ax theng tothe score in the 24th minute. Zico Tumba added a 2nd goal
in the 51st, NEC remaining dangerous with counters while Twente searched
for a way to get a ball in the back of the net.
|
| NEC
beat Vitesse 1 - 0 |
14 Oct 2001
|
| NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Wielaert, Zonneveld,
Latuheru, Ax, Simr, Tumba and Hristov.
Vitesse
lineup: Van Fessem, Cornelisse, Dingsdag, Kreek, Nanu, Knol, Janssen,
Claessens, Babangida, Van Beukering and Van der Schaaf.
Rob Wielaert, on loan from PSV,
made his debut this afternoon in a hard fought match where Jarda Simr scored the only
goal in the 58th minute. It's the 3rd consecutive defeat for the
Arnhemmers in their Gelderland derby with Nijmegen's NEC who climb gratefully
to 14th while
Vitesse slip from 2nd to 3rd.
|
| PSV
lend Wilaert to NEC |
13 Oct 2001
|
| PSV
are lending Rob Wilaert to NEC for the rest of the season. The 22 year-old
returned to Eindhoven during the summer from two years on loan to Den
Bosch but has not impressed Erik Gerets enough to earn himself a place in
the team and the right-back doesn't want to end up on the bench.
|
| Ajax
thrash NEC 5 - 0 |
10 Oct 2001
|
| Ajax
lineup: Grim, Trabelsi, Chivu, Heitinga, De Cler, O'Brien, Yakubu, Van der
Vaart, Van der Meyde, Ibrahimovic and Wamberto.
NEC
lineup: Van der Sleen, Schuurman, Hesp, Wisgerhof, Leiwakabessy, Van
Rijswijk, Simr, Latuheru, Ax, Tumba and Hristov.
Ajax won in convincing form,
leaving the poor Nijmegenaars gasping and 4 - 0 down within half an hour
of the kickoff. Cristian
Chivud the score with a spot-shot in the 2nd minute and Wamberto (in
terrific form tonight and seeming to grow in confidence with every match) added
his first of the evening in the 13th minute - he was allowed to storm
through to take his shot, and it was a bit of a lucky deflection, but so
what! Rafael van der Vaart made it 3
- 0 with a great freekick in the 21st while Grim came out of goal to start
the move which gave Wamberto the chance to put away his 2nd in the 30th for a halftime 4 - 0 score.
The 2nd half didn't live up to the expectations of the first goal-packed 45
minutes, although there was more good news for Ajax as Captain Tomás
Galásek made his reappearance (after missing the last two months through
injury) in the 68th minute. A 2nd penalty, put away by Nikos Machlas in the
80th minute, took the final score to 5 - 0.
|
| Fortuna
and NEC draw 2 - 2 |
29 Sept 2001
|
| Fortuna
lineup: Hesp, Emeran, van Dieren, van der Hoeven, Hermans,
Akerboom, Rook, Landerl, Cramb, Hamming and Haeldermans.
NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Leiwakabessy, Simr,
Schultz, Latuheru, Zonneveld, Jansen and Tumba.
NEC fought back to play the last half an
hour with only 9 men to earn a point in Sittard. Fortuna were 1 - 0 up
after 13 minutes thanks to Englishman Ronald Hamming. Before the break NEC
were reduced to playing with 10 men when Marchanno Schultz (NEC 40th
minute) was sent off. The match saw some unpleasant tackles/fouls and NEC
were the main culprits. They were reduced to 9 men when Mike Zonneveld
also got his marching orders in the 62nd minute after having scored a 51st
minute goal for the Nijmegen side. Marcel Akerboom scored a 2nd for the
Sittardians in the 74th minute but NEC's substitute Patrick Ax got a late
equalizer in the 83rd minute.
|
| NEC
beat Groningen 1 - 0 |
23 Sept 2001
|
| NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Hesp, Wisgerhof, Leiwakabessy, Simr,
Schultz, Latuheru, Zonneveld, Demouge and Jansen.
Groningen
lineup: Beukenkamp, Elshot, Allach, Schoenmakers, Paul Janssen, van
Gessel, Hugo, Broerse, Tuhuteru, Drent and Robben.
NEC got their 2nd win of the season
today against visitors who hid behind a defensive wall. The home team were
just that bit stronger but had a hard time getting past the ruthless
Groningen defence (a number of yellow cards were handed out). A Stefan Jansen goal in the 48th
livened things up a bit but NEC remained more or less in control.
Groningen threw in lots of crosses for Dennis Gerritsen and they were
awarded a penalty, 20 minutes before time, when the tall striker was
brought down. Unfortunately for them goalie Dennis
Gentenaar managed to save Joost Broerse's shot.
|
| Den
Bosch beat NEC 2 - 1 |
16 Sept 2001
|
| Newly
promoted Den Bosch continue their storming start in the Ere Divisie with
yet another win and climb to 5th place in the table. Coach Wiljan Vloet's
tactic is to get his team to be patient in attack and solid in
defence - it's paying off nicely so far! They took their time in the 1st
half but still created more dangerous moments than their opponents. A
mistake in their defence gave Zico Tumba a goal for the visitors in the
43rd but, just as they did last week against Willem II, Den Bosch
persevered and levelled the score when substitute Michels' pass was tucked
away by Maximiano in the 64th. Another Michels' pass sent Fabian de
Freitas away and he set up Bart van den Eede with a 3rd in the 83rd to
give Den Bosch another 3 points. |
| NEC
lose to Feyenoord 0 - 3 |
08 Sept 2001
|
|
NEC
lined-up:Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Zonneveld, Simr, Latuheru,
Schultz, van Rijswijk, Hristov and Tumba.
Feyenoord
lined-up: Zoetebier, Emerton, van Wonderen, de Haan, Rzasa, Bosvelt,
Tomasson, Paauwe, Kalou, van Hooijdonk and Ono.
NEC
had an uncomfortable 3 - 1 away defeat at the hands of Willem II to
the season but followed it up with a 1 - 0 home win against RKC and a 1 -
1 at de Graafschap. Feyenoord smashed Sparta 5 - 0, stole 3 points with a
0 - 2 at Roda (thanks to P-Air) but ran into Ajax in the Kuip with a 1 - 2
defeat in their last game.
Edwin Zoetebier made his debut for the
Rotterdammers and Shinji Ono started for the first time as Feyenoord put
in an efficient performance. The 'Japanese Wizard' was the provider of the
first two goals - Bonaventure Kaloud the score in the
23rd minute from one of his passes and Jon Dahl Tomasson put away a 2nd
from an Ono head-on two minutes into the 2nd half, the danish
international adding a 3rd (his 6th of the season) in the 87th which should give some extra bargaining power
in his negotiations for an improved deal.
|
| De
Graafschap draw 1 - 1 against NEC |
25 Aug 2001
|
| Dennis
Schulp was on loan from his old club Willem II to NEC last season but
failed to impress in Nijmegen and was sold to the Doetinchemmers where
he's formed an effective striking partnership with John van Vossen. He
radiated danger tonight but saw too little of the ball to actually do
much harm. NEC adopted a defensive posture with midfielder Schulz as
extra cover for Van Vossen which gave the home team more space but the
extra freedom was neutralized by the tight Nijmegen defence. The first
real chance that the Schulp-Van Vossen duo got to show their stuff was
enough and a one-two between them gave Schulp the chance to slot away
the the ball in the 40th minute. The 2nd half kicked off in a higher
tempo and NEC started to threaten more often with counters but Zico
Tumba missed twice with his feet and Danny Hesp missed twice with his
head. As the match drew to a close substitute Georgi Hristov passed the
ball to fellow-sub Frank Demouge who headed in the equalizer in the 89th
minute. |
| NEC
miss Marcel Koning for 3 weeks |
22 Aug 2001
|
| NEC
will miss Marcel Koning for the coming 3 weeks. The 26 year-old midfielder
injured his groin during the Amstel Cup match against 'De Treffers'. He
turned out against Willem II on Sunday but left the pitch after 49 minutes
play - hopefully he'll be back in time for the match against Fyeyenoord on
September 8th. |
| Willem
II beat NEC 3 - 1 |
19 Aug 2001
|
| Willem
II have been keeping a low profile during the summmer, only buying
'new-boys' Belgian Chris Janssens and Hendrik van Beelen. NEC have made a
few additions - Zico Tumba and Stefan Jansen were brought in to give tha
attack more sting alongside their other signings Jarda Simr and Resit
Schuurman - while Jack de Gier moved to Scottish side Dunfermline. The
"Tricolores" got off to a fine start with a goal after only 5
minutes from Chris Janssens and then proceede to overrun the Nijmegen side during
the 1st half with a 2nd
in the 23rd from Denny Landzaat and a 3rd by Yassine Abdellaoui in the
32nd. NEC were lucky that Jatto Ceesay and Mariano Bombardo were off form
or they'd have been more than three down by the break. Their only other
consolation was that Peter Wisgerhof got one back for the visitors in the 59th. |
| NEC
in more injury problems |
06 Aug 2001
|
| NEC
are having to contend with yet another injured player now that defender
Erik Wegh has twisted his knee in the friendly against Achilles'29. He
was immediately operated on to remove a piece of the meniscus and his
recovery is expected to take 6 - 8 weeks. It's particularly irritating
for the 21 year-old who was just starting to make a real impression
during the pre-season friendlies after making his first two appearances
for the 1st team last season. The news is the latest blow for the
Nijmegenaars who are already missing Patrick Ax and their 3rd goalie
Kevin Moeliker who's injured his shoulder. |
| NEC
miss Patrick Ax for coming months |
03 Aug 2001
|
| NEC
are going to be without their midfielder Patrick Ax for the coming months.
He's been having trouble with fluid in one of his knees which kept him out
of action during the club's pre-season friendlies. It turns out that
there's a crack in his meniscus and he'll probably be having an operation
this week to repair the damage which means several months of recuperation! |
| Hennie
de Romijn not joining Den Haag |
25 July 2001
|
| Hennie
de Romijn will not be joining the Haagenaars from NEC (where he's
become superfluous to the Nijmegenaars' needs). Rinus Israël would have
liked to have added him to the squad but, after being on trial and
playing a few matches, the player found their offer insufficiently
interesting and has decided to play for amateurs FC Lisse next season.
The 33 year-old defender has played 314 professional matches and scored
27 goals but only managed to play 3 times for NEC last season. |
| Return
to traditional strip for NEC |
23 July 2001
|
| NEC
fans have let their voices be heard so that their team will continue to
appear at home next season in the traditional red-green-black strip. They
gave last season's white shirt the thumbs-down after club members and
season-ticket holders were asked for their vote on the subject. Policy
makers at the club had 'designed' a new white shirt to celebrate the
club's centenary last season which didn't go down well with the fans! |
| Michael
Hendriks off to SW Wiedenbrück |
23 July 2001
|
| NEC's
Michael Hendriks is off to join SW Wiedenbrück in the German
Verbandsliga. The 21 year-old had a so-called "B"- contract in
Nijmegen and hopes now to catch the attention of some of the bigger German
clubs. The youngster made his NEC debut in 1999, under former trainer Jim
Calderwood, in the home game against FC Utrecht. He got to play what was
only his second game for them last season. |
| NEC win

|
| The
pre-season friendlies are in full swing and all Premier Division sides won
their matches:NEC beat NEC

| NEC
sign Feyenoord's Jarda Simr |
16 June 2001
|
| NEC
have signed Feyenoord's Jarda Simr on a contract for 4 years. The 22
year-old attacking midfielder has been on loan to satellite club Excelsior
last season where he made a good impression (scoring 18 goals in total). |
| RKC
beat NEC 2 - 1 |
17 Mar 2002
|
| RKC
lineup: Sinouh, Van Diemen, Govedarica, Van den Berg, De Graef,
Petrovic, Van Wanrooy, Fuchs, Yuri Cornelisse, Janssen and Putter.
NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Leiwakabessy, Van
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|

| NEC
miss Demouge/Hristov resumes training |
22 Feb 2002
|
| NEC
will miss their young striker Franke Demouge when they face De Graafschap
|
|
|
|
|
|

|

|

|

| NAC
want NEC's Marcel Koning |
22 Jan 2002
|
| NAC
are hoping to sign NEC's Marcel Koning when his contract runs out at the
end of the season in Nijmegen where he's played 190 matches, scoring 20

| In
last night's friendlies NEC lost at home to Belgian side Antwerp 1 - 3,
René van Rijswijk scored their only goal.
|
| Hristov
has new knee operation |
09 Jan 2002
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
02 Dec 2001
|
| Sparta
lineup: Kooiman, Sier, Mendes, Goossen, Van der Meer, Bouchiba, Winter,
Blinker, Zijm, B. Marbus and Koevermans.
NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Leiwakabessy, Van Rijswijk,
Wielaert, Latuheru, Ax, Simr and Jansen.
NEC were reduced to 10 men when
Peter Wisgerhof got a red card in the 33rd. Sparta put the Nijmegen
side under plenty of pressure, especially in the 2nd half, without result.
Dennis Gentenaar put in one hell of a performance, the woodwork stopped
the rest while Sparta were unable to
profit from their numerical advantage and the match ended without a single
goal being scored.
|
| NEC
lose to NAC 1 - 3 |
28 Nov 2001
|
| NEC
lineup: Gentenaar - Schuurman, Koning, Hesp, Leiwakabessy - Simr,
Wielaert, Latuheru - Ax, Jansen, Tumba
NAC
lineup: Babos - Fehér, Penders, Schenning, Gudelj - Petö, Sérgio,
Schreuder - Stewart, Cristiano, Bobson.
NAC continue their ascent and one
of their Brazilian duo scored two important goals to secure the points
tonight. Sérgio got them going after the break with hisr in
the 50th minute. Bart Latuheru equalized a minute later (51st), Glen
Salmon scored what looked like being the match-winner in the 89th and Sérgio
made absolutely sure with his 2nd in the 90th.

25 Nov 2001
|
| NEC

Utrecht
lineup: Wapenaar - Vreven, Roest, Zwaanswijk, Bosschaart - Tanghe,
Jean-Paul de Jong, van Mol, van den Bergh - Gluscevic, Kuyt
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| NEC win

|
| The
pre-season friendlies are in full swing and all Premier Division sides won
their matches:NEC beat NEC
amateurs 1 - 4 with goals by Hristov
(2), Jansen and Wisgerhof.

| NEC
sign Feyenoord's Jarda Simr |
|
|

|

|

03 Mar 2002
|
| Twente
lineup: Boschker, El-Brazi, Pothuizen, Grujic, Heubach, Cziommer, Van der

|

|

|

|

|

|

|
|
|
Vitesse remain unbeaten in the Gelredome this season and are
now 7th on 33 from 20 while NEC are 11th on 25 from 20 played.

want NEC's Marcel Koning |
22 Jan 2002
|
| NAC
are hoping to sign NEC's Marcel Koning when his contract runs out at the
end of the season in Nijmegen where he's played 190 matches, scoring 20

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
02 Dec 2001
|
| Sparta
lineup: Kooiman, Sier, Mendes, Goossen, Van der Meer, Bouchiba, Winter,
Blinker, Zijm, B.
|
|

25 Nov 2001

Utrecht
lineup: Wapenaar - Vreven, Roest, Zwaanswijk, Bosschaart - Tanghe,
Jean-Paul de Jong, van Mol, van den Bergh - Gluscevic, Kuyt
|
|
The Macedonian striker
will have an MRI scan in the next 7 days to see how bad the damage is.

trial for Finnish duo |
20 Nov 2001
|
| NEC
have offered two Finnish youth internationals a trial.
20 year-old
defender Tuomas Aho and the 19 year-old midfielder Antti Okkonen.
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Freitas away and he set up Bart van den Eede with a 3rd in the 83rd to
give Den Bosch another 3 points. |

lined-up:Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Zonneveld, Simr, Latuheru,
Schultz, van Rijswijk, Hristov and Tumba.
Feyenoord
lined-up: Zoetebier, Emerton, van Wonderen, de Haan, Rzasa, Bosvelt,
Tomasson, Paauwe, Kalou, van Hooijdonk and Ono.
NEC
had an uncomfortable 3 - 1 away defeat at the hands of Willem II to
the season but followed it up with a 1 - 0 home win against RKC and a 1 -
1 at de Graafschap.

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
He got to play what was
only his second game for them last season. |

last season where he made a good impression (scoring 18 goals in total). |
| RKC
beat NEC 2 - 1 |
17 Mar 2002
|
| RKC
lineup: Sinouh, Van Diemen, Govedarica, Van den Berg, De Graef,
Petrovic, Van Wanrooy, Fuchs, Yuri Cornelisse, Janssen and Putter.
NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Hesp, Leiwakabessy, Van

|
|
|

|
|
| Twente

03 Mar 2002
|
| Twente
lineup: Boschker, El-Brazi, Pothuizen, Grujic, Heubach, Cziommer, Van der

|

|
|
|

|

|

|
|
|
|
|
Vitesse remain unbeaten in the Gelredome this season and are
now 7th on 33 from 20 while NEC are 11th on 25 from 20 played.

want NEC's Marcel Koning |
22 Jan 2002
|
| NAC
are hoping to sign NEC's Marcel Koning when his contract runs out at the
end of the season in Nijmegen where he's played 190 matches, scoring 20

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

02 Dec 2001
|
| Sparta
lineup: Kooiman, Sier, Mendes, Goossen, Van der Meer, Bouchiba, Winter,
Blinker, Zijm, B.

28 Nov 2001
|

|

20 Nov 2001
|
| NEC
have offered two Finnish youth internationals a trial.
20 year-old
defender Tuomas Aho and the 19 year-old midfielder Antti Okkonen.
|
|
NEC's Resit Schuurman got a red
card in the 64th leaving NEC with only 10 men but PSV failed to cash in on
their chance and an uninspired performance was rounded off when Dennis Rommedahl took the final score to 3 - 1 in the
87th. The points take them into a much more respectable 5th place but the
fans remain unconvinced (as their whistles so clearly communicated).

lineup: Moens, Lee, Wijker, Opdam, El Hadrioui, Boussatta, Robbemond,
Buskermolen, Van Galen, Nelisse and Elkhattabi.

|

|
|

|

|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| NEC win
friendly |
11 July 2001
|
| The
pre-season friendlies are in full swing and all Premier Division sides won
their matches:NEC beat NEC
amateurs 1 - 4 with goals by Hristov
(2), Jansen and Wisgerhof.
|
| NEC
sign Feyenoord's Jarda Simr |
16 June 2001
|
| NEC
have signed Feyenoord's Jarda Simr on a contract for 4 years. The 22
year-old attacking midfielder has been on loan to satellite club Excelsior
last season where he made a good impression (scoring 18 goals in total). |
