Kolk stays with Heerenveen |
05 July 2002
|
Santi
Kolk has put an end to all the speculation by deciding to stay with
Heerenveen. The striker had been on loan to RKC who were interested in
signing him permanently but talks
between the clubs came to nothing. Kolk joined the Frieslanders in 2000
from ADO Den Haag but never managed more than appearances as a substitute
with the team. In order to get more match action he went to Waalwijk but
experienced the same problem there, starting in only two of the 14 Ere
Divisie matches he played.
Two other Heerenveen players have extended their deals with the club: Said
Bakkati and reserve keeper Jacob de Vries are now under contract till
2004.

Vokleblad" that he was following in the footsteps of several other
Danes who'd gone before and he'd already spoken to Jesper
Hakansson and Daniel Jensen at his new
club.

in helping the team to their end of season 4th place ranking. Injuries to
Johan Hansma and Tieme Klompe meant he got more playing minutes than he
might have expected but he made good use of them and looks certain to end
his career with the Frieslanders.

Heerenveen's Anthony Lurling is close to signing a contract with Feyenoord
. The two clubs have agreed terms and the transfer fee for the 25
year-old forward, whose contract at the Abe Lenstra stadium runs till the
summer of 2003, is said to be €5 million Euros. It's possible that the
Swedish forward John Elmander will be part of the deal but whether he'll
be sold or hired out to Heerenveen remains unclear. For Lurling it's a
dream come true to play for Rotterdam's finest and, according to the
newspaper report, he's going to be rounding off the deal during talks with
Feyenoord in 2 weeks time.

Heerenveen lineup: Vonk,

Nurmela, Allbäck, Lurling.
A hattrick by "Man of the Match" Paul Bosvelt (only the 2nd of
his career - the first scored on November 20th 2000 in the 4-2 against
Roda) gave Feyenoord
the points and a chance of Champions League next season via the qualifying
rounds. The ever popular
former-Feyenoord keeper Jurek Dudek, currently looking after goal for
Liverpool, was given a special, belated tribute by the fans before the
game kicked-off. The Rotterdammers got off to a nervous start and had to
fight back against opponents who put on a fine performance and plenty of
resistance. Bosvelt put away his first in the 27th minute, slotting home a rebound from a Pierre van
Hooijdonk shot. The visitors immediately drew level with a beautiful curling ball by 'Mighty Swede' Marcus Allbäck
that left
Edwin Zoetebier without a chance.
Surprisingly, 'Japanese Wizard' Shinji Ono picked up a 2nd yellow card in
the 40th, for a terrible tackle from behind, and a mighty unhappy man disappeared for an early shower. Reduced to 10 men, Feyenoord
were soon trailing again when, 3 minutes into the 2nd half, Anthony Lurling
rounded off a solo-run with a fine shot to put the Heerenveen hordes ahead. Bosvelt was having none of it though and 2 goals
in 5 minutes, a header in the 59th to draw level plus a 20 metre missile in
the 64th, gave Feyenoord the win. The Rotterdammers' grit has guaranteed
them an end-of-season 3rd place while Heerenveen drop to 5th after Vitesse's win against
Willem II.

Heerenveen
Lineup:
Hans Vonk, Said Bakkati (46. Mika Vayrynen), Ronnie Venema, Gérard de
Nooijer, Erik Edman, Daniel Jensen, Jesper Håkansson (84. Stefan
Selakovic), Arek Radomski, Mika Nurmela (74. Jeffrey Talan), Marcus Allbäck,
Romano Denneboom.
Groningen Lineup:
Roy Beukenkamp, Magnus Johansson, Melchior Schoenmakers, Paul Janssen (73.
Hugo), Mathias Florén, Jordi Hoogstrate, Paul Matthijs, Sander van Gessel,
Joost Broerse (60. Martin Drent), Ali Boussaboun (79. Bert Zimmerman),
Arjen Robben.
Heerenveen are back in Europe again after their 2-0 home win against
Groningen. The visitors were looking to earn themselves a simple point and decided to
confront Heerenveen with a 10 man defense. Their defensive wall proved impenetrable
in the 1st half but, 3 minutes into the 2nd half, Heerenveen finally managed
to find a chink in the Groningen armour. The Northerners' defenders misjudged a ball, thinking that it
was about to go out of play and Heereveen's Finnish forward Håkansson was alert
to the opportunity, picking up the ball to score from close range. In the 70th
minute Håkansson put the final score on the board, dribbling
past Schoenmakers before shooting low into the far left hand corner of the
net.

career to continue playing. Jensen is intending to play in Heerenveen's
remaining league games before having the operation.

Roda lineup: Kalac, Rudge,
Tomasic, Luijpers, Lachambre, Vandenbroeck, Lawal, Van Dessel, Gregoor van
Dijk, Berglund, Tchoutang.
Heerenveen dropped valuable points this
evening and are now no longer likely to qualify for UEFA Cup football next
season. Denneboom nearlyd the score halfway through the 1st half for
Heerenveen but saw his well taken header finely saved by Roda's
goalie Kalac. A few minutes later Tchoutang went for an early shower after
receiving a red card for spitting in goalkeeper Vonk's face, Roda's 5th
red card in the last 9 matches. The 2nd half began with a 20 meter Marcus
Allbäck shot which hit the wrong side of the post. Halfway through the
2nd half Anthony Lurling received a yellow card for arguing with his
opponent and 1 minute later was heading for the dressing room when he
received another card for complaining about the first one. It can quite
often have a positive, enlivening effect on the game when 2 teams are
reduced to 10 men but not on this one! It simply fizzled out.

been particularly active as a trainer in the Arabian Gulf States before
which he had a playing career with Ajax, Schalke 04, FC Metz, Sparta, Los

Schaaf, Diarra, Martel, Mbamba and Van Beukering.
Heerenveen

Selakovic, Nurmela, Allbäck and Lurling.
Vitesse and Heerenveen are two of
the contenders for a place in Europe next season. They shared the
points in a goalless draw tonight and stay in 5th and 4th place, on 51
points from 30 games and 52 points from 30 played, respectively.

& Suurbier off to Heerenveen ? |
27 Mar 2002
|
| Heerenveen
are hoping that Willem II trainer Hans Westerhof and ex-international Wim Suurbier will join their technical staff next season.
Westerhof wishes to continue devoting his time and energy on helping Willem II
for the time being and will
make a decision later in the season while Wim Suurbier is currently negotiating
with Heerenveen and will make his decision known shortly.

| Heerenveen
beat NEC 4 - 0 |
24 Mar 2002
|
Heerenveen
lineup: Hans Vonk, Ronnie Venema, Arek Radomski, Arjen Ebbinge, Erik Edman,
Mika Nurmela, Stefan Selakovic, Daniël Jensen, Romano Denneboom (Jesper
Hakansson), Marcus Allbäck (74. Jeffrey Talan), Saïd Bakkati.
NEC
lineup: Dennis Gentenaar, Resit Schuurman (58. Mike Owusu), Peter
Wisgerhof, Danny Hesp, Jeffrey Leiwakabessy, Jarda Simr, Rob Wielaert,
Bart Latuheru, Patrick Ax (64. René van Rijswijk), Dennis de Nooijer,
Frank Demouge.
In spite of Heerenveen losing to Ajax last week in the Amsterdam
Arena, they could still pose a threat to the Top 3 clubs' title ambitions as
they climb back into 3rd position.
Heerenveen could haved the score in the 2nd minute but Allbäck's shot
hit the wrong side of the post. However, 10 minutes later he did find
the back of the net, rounding off a Denneboom cross for Heerenveen's
1st. In the 27th minute NEC defender Simr lost control of his senses,
passing the ball to Heerenveen's Jensen, who had no trouble in
slotting home the 2 - 0. In the 37th minute Romano Dennenboom dribbled pass 4 NEC defenders before delivering a made-to-measure cross for
Nurmela to head home. The second half turned out to be far less entertaining than the first half. Selakovic scored
for the 4 - 0
from close range in the last minute. Heerenveen
have now won 8th consecutive home games on the trot and, after last night's
win, find themselves 1 point iahead of PSV and just 1
point behind Feyenoord.

| Ajax
beat Heerenveen 2 - 0 |
17 Mar 2002
|
| Ajax
lineup: Grim, Trabelsi, Bergdølmo, Chivu, O'Brien, Van Halst, Pienaar,
Maxwell, Van der Meyde, Mido and Wamberto.
Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Venema, Hansma, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Håkansson,
Selakovic, Väyrynen, Nurmela, Allbäck and Lurling.
Ajax stay top after a convincing
win against the Frieslanders. Ronald Koeman's criticism of Ahmed 'Mido'
Hossam has been repayed by a sudden surge in the youngster's performance
and he put away two goals to clinch
the points. Koeman finally seems to have found the central striker he's
been looking for in the last couple of months after the disappointing
performances of Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Nikos Machlas. 'Mido' had, till
now, mostly been fielded as a winger but, after heading in the 3 - 0
against De Graafschap on Wednesday, he proved to be 'too tall an order'
for the Heerenveen defence this afternoon. After threatening several times
to put one past goalie Hans Vonk in theng half an hour he finally
soared above the Frieslanders' back line to nod in ther in the 35th
minute. Heerenveen had little to 'say' in the 1st half except for a Marcus
Allbäck header which hit the post and his partnership with Stefan
Selakovic only occasionally looked threatening. 'Mido' was a really happy
young man when he headed in his 2nd goal in the 68th and Ajax stay on
course for the title they so badly want this season!

| Leeds
target Heerenveen's Edman |
15 Mar 2002
|
| Leeds
United have been tracking Heerenveen's young Swedish defender Erik Edman.
Apparently the English Premiership side have been watching him since he
made his debut for Sweden in the friendly against England last November.
The 23 year-old defender, who's already had two unsuccessful 'foreign
adventures' with Torino and Karlsruher SC, joined the Frieslanders at the
beginning of the season from Swedish side AIK and has impressed in the
left-back position.

Fortuna 3 - 1 |
13 Mar 2002
|
| Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Venema, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Ebbinge, Radomski,
Selakovic, Jensen, Nurmela, Allbäck and Lurling.
Fortuna lineup:Hesp,
Emeran, Akerboom, Volmer, Hermans, Meszaros, Gerritsen, Haeldermans,
Landerl, Simons and Cramb.
Heerenveen stay in touch with the top 3
clubs with this win against Fortuna. Coach Foppe de Haan was bannished to
the stands in the break by referee Ruud Bossen while substitute Jesper
Håkansson celebrated with two goals. Erik Edmand the score in the
7th minute but Heerenveen had problems getting into gear tonight and a
dubious penalty decision gave Colin Cramb the chance to draw Fortuna level
in the 45th from the spot. De Haan's reaction was to snatch the ball from
the ref's arms at the whistle for half-time which led to his banishment.
Heerenveen continued to make hard work of their task after the break but
the Fin Håkansson's 2 goals in the 67th and 69th minutes decided the
match and put a repectable score on the board.

| End
of season for Tieme Klompe |
11 Mar 2002
|
| Heerenveen
miss central defender Tieme Klompe for the rest of the season after he
picked up an achilles heel injury in training today. It's a blow to their
championship aspirations as Klompe has been the central pillar of the
Frieslanders' defence since he joined in the 1997/98 season. The 25
year-old made his debut in the 3 - 1 win against Roda on March 2nd, 1997.

| Hans
Vonk attracts German interest |
04 Mar 2002
|
| According
to Dutch provincial newspaper "De Leeuwarder Courant"
Heerenveen's goalie Hans Vonk has attracted the interest of a few German
clubs, including Werder Bremen (where another Dutchmnan Frank Verlaat also
keeps goal). Scouts were spotted watching Vonk (whose contract runs out in
2004) during Friday's friendly against Dynamo Moscow, which the
Frieslanders won (perhaps surprisingly) thanks to goals by 'Mighty Swede'
Marcus Allbäck and his Swedish teammate Allan Bak Jensen. |

| Thomas
Holm on hire to Veendam |
27 Feb 2002
|
| Heerenveen's
Thomas Holm is going on loan to Veendam for the rest of the season as part
of the clubs' cooperation pact. The 21 year-old Norwegian defender, who's
captain of Norway's youth team, has mostly been playing for Heerenveen's
reserve team since arriving at the club 2 years ago. Veendam have also
signed 22 year-old winger Rudson Romeo Clemencia, currently playing for
amateur side Appingedam, on a contract for 2 years.

| Atletico
Madrid want Heerenveen's Jensen |
21 Feb 2002
|
| Atletico
Madrid have approached Heerenveen for their 22 year-old striker Daniël
Jensen and the Spanish 2nd Division side are prepared to pay the club's
€1,600,000 million Euro asking price. The young Dane came to Holland
from one of Denmark's lesser side's, AF, but is unhappy in Friesland and
is keen on a move to Spain. He recently made his full-debut for the Danish
national team in their friendly against Saudi Arabia.

| Foppe
de Haan dreams of Ireland |
18 Feb 2002
|
| Foppe
de Haan may be an eccentric in Holland's tough, macho football-land but
you would imagine that even he still dreams, as many of his colleagues
undoubtedly do, of one day becoming Oranje coach. You'd be wrong. The
Heerenveen trainer has, instead, been talking about his desire to become
the Irish national coach, attracted by the country, the people and their
uncomplaining, no-nonsense attitude, much like the Frieslanders
themselves! In addition he's 'confessed' that 3 Dutch clubs have tried to
lure him away from Heerenveen during the last 4 years. The 58 year-old is
quite happy where he is, thank-you-very-much, and doesn't need the extra
money or 'new-challenge' that is most often given as reason for a change
of employer. He's also been 'defending' the Dutch
'attacking-wingers-philosophy', explaining that it's an essential part of
the Dutch footballing-identity! See
our profile of the man from the 2000/2001 season! |
| Allbäck
off to Sunderland soon? |
17 Feb 2002
|
| Heerenveen's
'Mighty Swede' Marcus Allbäck, already linked so many times this season,
and last, with a move to a new club, is still on Sunderland's wanted
list. The "Black
Cats", who need a replacement for veteran Niall Quinn, are one of 3 clubs competing for the Swedish international's
services. The Swede has had a clause put in his contract which could allow
him to leave at the end of this season for a 'mere' €3,18 million Euros.

| Heerenveen
trial for Nilsson |
17 Feb 2002
|
| Heerenveen
have offered Swedish youth player Rikard Nilsson a week's trial. The youth
international plays for Elfsborg, regularly training with the 1st team
although he's yet to make his debut in the Allsvenskan league. If he
succeeds in impressing Foppe de Haan he could become the Frieslanders' 4th
Swede, joining Marcus Allbäck, Erik Edman and Stefan Selakovic (though
the 'Mighty Swede' Allbäck could well soon be off to the English
Premiership).
|
| Heerenveen
beat Willem II 3 - 0 |
16 Feb 2002
|
| Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Venema, Klompe, Ebbinge, Edman, Väyrynen, Radomski,
Selakovic, Nurmela, Allbäck and Lurling.
Willem
II lineup: De Vlieger, Victoria, Van Nieuwstadt, Janssens, Mariana,
D. Mathijssen, Landzaat, Shoukov, Ceesay, Bombarda and Abdellaoui.
Another convincing Heerenveen performance
keeps them in with the big three at the top. They're practically always
impressive at hoem in the Abe Lenstra stadium and tonight they had a
simple win against the Tilburgers. Willem II were unable to make an
impression on the Friesian backline and only had hope to show for
their efforts. Swedish striker Stefan Selakovicd the score just before the break in the 44th, claiming his 2nd of
the evening in the 50th. Jeffrey Talan put away the 3rd in the 70th to give the
Frieslanders another 3 points, which keep them in 4th place on 42 points
from 23 played, one point behind PSV. The "Tricolores" stay
where they were in 10th on 28 points from 23 played.

lose to Heerenveen 0 - 2 |
09 Feb 2002
|
| AZ
lineup: Nijkamp, Wolters, Wijker, Buskermolen, El Hadrioui, Kromkamp,
Lindenbergh, Robbemond, Van Galen and Perez.
Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Venema, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Radomski, Väyrynen,
Selakovic, Nurmela, Allbäck and Lurling.
An easy win for the Frieslanders
tonight and a valuable one in their fight for a European ticket next
season. Even after being reduced to 10 men when Gérard de Nooijer was
sent off for 'hands-ball' halfway through the 2nd half, they proved too
strong for the home team and the Alkmaarders proved too weak to make use
of their advantage in numbers. "Mighty Swede" Marcus Allbäckd the score in the 16th and his Swedish teammate Stefan Selakovic added a 2nd in the 46th.
Heerenveen stay where they are, in 4th on 39 points from 22 played,
closing the gap with the top 3 but they all have games in hand. AZ, remain
uninspiring and uninspired in 13th on 25 from 21 played.

08 Feb 2002

| Heerenveen's
Rafael Vieira is currently enjoying a trial with Swedish Superliga side
Vejle. The Brazilian was Finland's top scorer for 2 seasons running and
hopes that a return to Scandinavia, after 2 disappointing seasons in
Holland, wiil breathe new life into his career. |
| De
Haan extends Heerenveen contract |
06 Feb 2002
|
| Foppe
de Haan has extended his contract with Heerenveen for one more year. The
58 year-old trainer is feeling quite at home on the bench with the
Frieslanders but has a clause in his contract which allows him to reevalue
his position at the club from season to season, for the time being he's
staying! There will be a new reserve squad trainer next season as Henk de
Jong is leaving, to be replaced by Jan de Jonge who's currently the
assistant.

| Utrecht
and Heerenveen in stalemate 0 - 0 |
03 Feb 2002
|
| Utrecht
lineup: Wapenaar, Vreven, Zwaanswijk, Touzani, Bosschaart, Tanghe,
Jean-Paul de Jong, Van Mol, Van den Bergh, Kuyt and Gluscevic.
Heerenveen lineup:
Ditewig, Venema, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Radomski, Selakovic,
Jensen, Nurmela, Allbäck and Lurling.
Utrecht knocked the Frieslanders out of the
Amstel Cup on Wednesday evening but this repeat meeting in the league so
soon after their quarter-final encounter proved to be too much of a good
thing because neither side were able to find the back of the net.
Nonetheless both teams improve their ranking, Heerenveen go 4th on
36 points from 21 played while Utrecht are now 5th on 34 from 21.
|
| Utrecht
beat Heerenveen 3 - 1 in Cup |
30 Jan 2002
|
| Utrecht
are through to the semi-finals of the Amstel Cup after a 3 - 1 win against
Heerenveen. Erik Edman put the Frieslanders ahead in the 41st, Pascal Bosschaart
levelled the score for Utrecht in the 45th and two more goals from Igor Gluscevic in the 67th and Dirk Kuyt
in the 90th gave the Domstad side the victory. Foppe de Haan and his boys
will be wondering what happened, especially after Anthony Lurling saw his
spot-shot saved by Harald Wapenaar - if it had gone in it would have made
the score 2 - 2. Utrecht were reduced to 10 men for the last 20 minutes
when Karim Touzani got his marching orders but Heerenveen were unable to
profit from their numerical advantage and when Kuyt put away the injury
time winner the Domstad went wild and the celebrations began!

| Sparta
lose to Heerenveen 1 - 4 |
25 Jan 2002
|
| Sparta
lineup: Kooiman, Mendes, Marília, Goossen, Van der Meer, Bouchiba,
Winter, Conteh, Sanou, B. Marbus and Blinker.
Heerenveen
lineup: Ditewig, Bakkati, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Väyrynen,
Radomski, Selakovic, Nurmela, Allbäck and Lurling.
Heerenveen earn themselves the
first 3 points of the 2nd half of the season with a decisive victory
at "Het Kasteel" stadium. The visitors were gifted an
own goal by Sparta's Marília in the 7th minute. Dave van der Meer
equalized for the home team in the 74th minute but 2 minutes later Gérard de
Nooijer edged the Frieslanders ahead again and goals by Anthony Lurling
(http://www.footballnl.com) and Mike Nurmela (http://www.footballnl.com) made sure of the points. They celebrate
their 1600th professional match with their 2nd away win of the season and climb into
3rd place on 35 points from 20 games while Sparta stay in 15th on 19
points from 19 played.

| Guillermo
Graaven on trial with Heerenveen |
21 Jan 2002
|
| Heerenveen
have offered Guillermo Graaven a trial for an undetermined length of time
- he recently had an unsuccessful trial with Scottish side
Motherwell. The
former Ajax youth player went to Ipswich Town in 2000, never actually got to
play for the "Tractor Boys" after he broke his ankle, and
decided to terminate his contract with the English Premiership side last December.
The 20 year-old striker got his first taste of action in yesterday's
friendly against Borussia Dortmund when he substituted for Romano
Denneboom.

the score was still 0 - 0.

| Heerenveen
are going to expand - they want to increase capacity of their Abe Lenstra
stadium from 13,500 to 28,000 as part of a plan which has been given the
name 'Sportstad Heerenveen' (Sportcity Heerenveen). After completion
the complex will include sports facilities, a swimming pool and a
school! It's expected that the project, which has been given the go-ahead
by the municipal council, will cost €77.6 million Euros, of which €18
million still has to be found.

| South
Africa call up Hans Vonk |
08 Jan 2002
|
| South
Africa have called up Heerenveen's goalkeeper Hans Vonk for the coming
African Cup that kicks-off in Mali on January 19th. Although Vonk,
Heerenveen and South Africa's coach Carlos Queiros had earlier agreed that
the keeper wouldn't be called on to play there has obviously been a change
of plan! Vonk has little choice in the matter as he could be handed out a
FIFA ban for 4 matches if he doesn't comply with the request and could
also risk not being chosen for the squad travelling to the World Cup this
summer.

| Heerenveen
extend Venema's contract |
02 Jan 2002
|
| Heerenveen
have extended Ronnie Venema's contract till 2004 - the 27 year-old
wing-back has played for the Frieslanders since 1993. He made his debut on
April 2nd 1995 in the 3-3 against Ajax but between 1996 and 1999 he was on
hire to Veendam.

| NAC
beat Heerenveen 2 - 1 |
22 Dec 2001
|
| NAC
lineup: Babos, Mensah, Schenning, Fehér, Gudelj, Stewart, Sérgio,
Schreuder, Hersi, Cristiano and Bobson.
Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Bakkati, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Väyrynen,
Radomski, Jensen, Nurmela, Denneboom and Lurling.
Heerenveen are always a formidable
opponent at home but are a far less imposing team away. They started well
enough but it was 'American Footballer of the Year' Earnest Stewart who put the home team
ahead with a beauty of a freekick after 32 minutes, and 10 minutes later
Sérgio made it 2 - 0. The visitors were clearly missing their
"Mighty Swede" Marcus Allbäck (off on a well earned
holiday). NAC were reduced to 10 men when Sérgio got a red card in the 73rd and Heerenveen were able to
fight back to get a consolation goal when Bak Jensen scored in the 83rd. NAC's
win lifts them into 4th place on 34 points from 19 games, PSV just ahead
on goal average, Heerenveen slip to 5th.

| Heerenveen
sign Stefan Selakovic |
22 Dec 2001
|
| Heerenveen
have sealed the deal with Swedish
side Halmstads BKD regarding the transfer-fee for Stefan Selakovic. The 24 year-old has already agreed terms with
his new club and will now be reporting for duty in Friesland on January
7th. Selakovic has been capped 6 times for Sweden's youth team and was last
season's top scorer in Sweden's top division with 15 goals, scoring a total of 38 in 119 matches.

track Marcus Allbäck |
18 Dec 2001
|
| Glasgow
Rangers are the latest club to be linked with Heerenveen's "Mighty
Swede" Marcus Allbäck - Premier League Sunderland and Southampton's
interest didn't materialise in a serious offer for the former Örgryte IS,
Lyngby FC and Bari striker. The Scottish side's new technical director
Dick Advocaat (who recently vacated the coach's job for his current
role)
has confirmed that they are watching Allbäck's progress but have not made
an offer as yet! The 28 year-old Swedish international arrived in
Heerenveen in January 2001 and quickly proved his value to them, scoring
20 goals in 32 Ere Divisie matches.

| Heerenveen
sign Stefan Selakovic? |
17 Dec 2001
|
| Heerenveen
are on the point of signing yet another Swedish striker, Stefan Selakovic
- the 24 year-old has already agreed terms with the Frieslanders and they
are in the final stages of negotiations with his current employer, Swedish
side Halmstads BKD, regarding the transfer-fee. Selakovic was last
season's top scorer in Sweden's top division with 15 goals and has
scored a total of 38 in 119 matches.

| NEC
beat Heerenveen 1 - 0 |
16 Dec 2001
|
| NEC
lineup: Gentenaar, Schuurman, Wisgerhof, Wielaert, Leiwakabessy, Simr,

Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Bakkati, Gérard de Nooijer, Klompe, Edman, Jensen,
Radomski, Talan, Nurmela, Denneboom and Lurling.
NEC just can't seem to score this
season - they are currently the least productive side in the Ere Divisie
(even Fortuna have now score more goals after the 2 they put away on
Friday against Roda!). Dennis de Nooijer ( hired out by the Frieslanders
to the Nijmegen side since this week) 'created' the lone goal when his
pass was sent past Hans Vonk for an own goal by Tieme Klompe in the 77th
to deny Heerenveen the points. They slip to 4th place as PSV leapfrog them
into 3rd while NEC are tucked away in 10th.

11 Dec 2001
|
| Heerenveen
are lending Dennis de Nooijer to NEC for the rest of the season. The
striker has been without a regular place in the team and spent a part of
last season on loan to his old club Sparta (where he'd played for 11
seasons). "Mighty Swede" Marcus Allbäck's arrival has kept him
out of the eleven and he recently had a trial with German side MSV
Duisburg.

| Willem
II draw with Heerenveen 2 - 2 |
08 Dec 2001
|
| Willem
II lineup: De Vlieger, Jaliens, Van Nieuwstadt, Janssens, J.
Mathijsen, Victoria, Landzaat, D.Mathijssen, Ceesay, Bombarda and Shoukov.
Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Bakkati, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Väyrynen,
Radomski, Jensen, Nurmela, Allbäck and Lurling.
Willem II will be kicking
themselves hard for giving away a 2 goal advantage for the 3rd match in a
row - they unnecessarily donated a point to NAC last week with a 2 - 2
draw and gave away their 0 - 2 advantage to lose all the points in
their 3 -2 defeat at Sparta the week before that! They can console
themselves by pointing an accusing finger at referee Roelof Luinge for
awarding an injury time penalty to Heerenveen for goalie Geert de
Vlieger's 'allegedly' breaking of the 6 second rule and Arek Radomski put
away the spot-shot for a late Heerenveen equalizer. After a boringng
30 minutes Dmitri Shoukov finallyd the score in
the 36th for the "Tricolores" as they started to play some
attractive football. After the break a Shoukov cross was headed in by Mariano Bombarda
for the 2 - 0
in the 63rd and it began to look as if the home team might win their first match
in 6 games. Heerenveen's 'Mighty Swede' Marcus Allbäck dented their hopes
when he closed the gap in the 78th, slamming home Gérard de Nooijer's
pass. Radomski's 90th minute equalizing spot-shot gave the Frieslanders a point to take home. The point moves Willem II up a
notch into 10th place while Heerenveen stay where they are in 4th place.

| Heerenveen
beat Feyenoord 1 - 0 |
01 Dec 2001
|
| Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Bakkati, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Lurling,
Radomski, Jensen, Nurmela, Allbäck and Väyrynen.
Feyenoord
lineup: Zoetebier, Gyan, Van Wonderen, De Haan, Rzasa, Emerton,
Bosvelt, Ono, Elmander, Van Hooijdonk and Tomasson.
Heerenveen have beaten PSV, Ajax
and now Feyenoord at home and this was their 5th in a row. In a 1st
half they dominated while creating few chances apart from easily stopped
shots from Allbäck, Nurmela and Jensen. Johan Emander had the best chance
of the 90 minutes to score early in the 2nd half but his shot was
deflected by Vonk and cleared by De Nooijer. An Anthony Lurling spot-shot for the home team in the
64th gave them the points. Minutes later Pierre van Hooijdonk bit the
dust in the box when Hans Vonk floored him but the referee denied the
Rotterdammers a well deserved penalty to the audible displeasure of their
fans. Feyenoord tried to get back into the match but weren't in the groove
tonight. The win lifts the Frieslanders into 3rd place.

| Heerenveen
players on trial abroad |
28 Nov 2001
|
| Heerenveen's
Dennis de Nooijer and Arjan Ebbinge are both currently on trial with
foreign clubs in the hope of getting new contracts since they've lost
their places in the squad with Friesland's best. De Nooijer is in Germany
trying out with the Bundesliga's Second Division MSV Duisburg while
Ebbinge is in England trying to impress First Division Wimbledon.

| Twente
and Heerenveen in goalless draw |
24 Nov 2001
|
| Twente
lineup: Sander Boschker, Spira Grujic, Patrick Pothuizen, Tommie van der
Leegte, Sjaak Polak, Kurt van der Paar, Arjan van der Laan, Ellery Cairo
(66th Thijs Houwing), Björn van der Doelen, Chris van der Weerden and
Jack de Gier (83rd Scott Booth).
Heerenveen
lineup: Hans Vonk, Said Bakkati, Tieme Klompe, Erik Edman, Gérard de
Nooijer, Anthony Lurling, Romano Denneboom (76th Mika Väyrynen), Daniel
Jensen, Thomas Holm (68th Jeffrey Talan), Mika Nurmela and Marcus Allbäck.
Twente
have not scored in their last 3 home games and missed their
opportunity to do so against Heerenveen. Both teams were on equal terms in
the 1st half but the home team created more goal-scoring opportunities.
New-boy-on-the-block Jack de Gier, in particular, missed scoring chances
and, despite being clearly the better side in the 2nd half, "The
Tukkers" failed to convert their after-the break superiority into
goals-in-the-back-of-the-net. The result means Heerenveen drop from 2nd to
4th place and Twente are in 13th.

Foppe de Haan was able to give two

replaced the suspended Arek Radomski. Although Sparta held their ground in
theng half an hour, after an own goal by Siem Zijm in the 31st they
were no match for the home team. The 'Mighty Swede' Marcus Allbäck made
it 2 - 0 in the 42nd, with his 10th goal of the season. Despite
substituting Houssin Bezzai for Marilia and Silvia Inia for Nourdin
Boukhari Sparta couldn't turn the tide. Up-and-coming talent Romano
Denneboom added a 3rd in the 55th to give the Frieslanders another
valuable 3 points which takes them, if momentarily, into 2nd place.

| Heerenveen
to sign
Kim Källström |
08 Nov 2001
|
| Heerenveen
are poised to sign Swedish midfielder Kim Källström in a deal said to be
worth €2.25 million Euros. The 19 year-old currently plays for BK Häcken
and was their 'Young Player of the Year'. Club chairman Åke Nilson
admitted that the club will be sad to see him go but, since the side's
relegation from Sweden's top division, they've had to reconsider their
decision to reject an earlier offer by the Dutch club and the youngster
now looks set to join compatriots Marcus Allbäck and Erik Edman in
Friesland.

Veendam
lost to Heerenveen
0 - 2. It
took Heerenveen until the last 10 minutes of the match to avoid having to
play extra-time. Tony Alberda's almost-goal for Veendam, in the first
quarter of an hour, was the only thing for the sold-out stadiumn to get
excited about until Anthony Lurling scored from a Gérard de Nooijer pass,
the ball dissappearing between the legs of goalie Peter van der Vlag.
Substitute Lionel Lord, making his debut (he normally plays for the
reserves) sealed Veendam's fate and put the Frieslanders through to the
next round of the Cup.

| Fortuna
beat Heerenveen 1 - 0 |
03 Nov 2001
|
| Fortuna
lineup: Hesp, Emeran, Akerboom, Volmer, Hermans, Van der Hoeven, El
Khadri, Gerritsen, Rook, Krijgsman and Hamming.
Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Venema, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Nurmela, Jensen,
Radomski, Lurling, Allbäck and Denneboom.
Fortuna's 5 man defensive wall made
life very, very difficult for Heerenveen. Despite their attempts to
penetrate the home team's backline it was Joost Volmer who headed in
Fortuna's match-winner from a freekick close to the end of the 1st half
(40th minute). The frustration at not being able to convert their on-pitch
superiority into goals-in-the-back-of-the-net led to Heerenveen's Arek Radomski
being sent off for a red card
offence in the 88th. Tonight's win is only the Sittardian's 2nd of the
season, lifting them into 17th place while pushing Roda back into bottom
position.

| Heerenveen
beat De Graafschap 1 - 0 |
27 Oct 2001
|
| Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Venema, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Nurmela,
Radomski, Lurling, Jensen, Allbäck and Denneboom.
De
Graafschap lineup: Postma,
Bot, Vreman, Berck Beelenkamp, Fränkel, Meerdink, Bakens, Van Leerdam,
Nok, Turpijn and Van Vossen.
Heerenveen
played all their best football against Ajax earlier in the week. Tonight
they were nowhere near as good and wasted many good opportunities against
a side reduced to 10 men when De Graafschap's Peter van Vossen was sent
off in the 13th. The cool "Mighty Swede" Marcus Allbäck put the
only goal of the match away for the Frieslanders in the 18th minute. They
climb to 3rd place, one point behind Vitesse while the
"SuperBoeren" sink to 11th.

| Heerenveen
crush Ajax 5 - 1 |
24 Oct 2001
|
Heerenveen Vonk, Venema, Klompe, G. de Nooijer, Edman, Radomski,
Jensen, Nurmela, Lurling, Allback and Denneboom.
Ajax
lineup: Grim,Trabelsi, Bergdølmo, Galásek, Chivu, O'Brien, Yakubu, Van
der Vaart, Van der Meyde, Mido and Wamberto.
Ajax had their first defeat of the
season against Heerenveen - and a crushing defeat it was too! They began
well enough - Rafael van der Vaart put away a sweet header for his 8th goal of the season in
the 18th minute and saw an attempt to lob hans Vonk bounce off the bar in
the 30th. The home team were unable to offer much in return
before the break but, after missing an earlier chance to beat Grim, "Mighty Swede" Marcus Allbäck, headed in an equalizer
in the 45th minute from a Mike Nurmela
freekick. The 2nd half was all Heerenveen's - Gérard de Nooijer headed in
two goals in the 69th and 83rd minutes from Nurmela passes, Roman
Denneboom put away another in the 72nd and the remaining 4th goal came
from Allbäck in the 79th. The Fin's and the Swede's market value will
have soared after tonight's performance and it can only be a matter of
time before the big (read rich) clubs come knocking at the door for their
services.
|
| Ajax
without fans against Heerenveen |
23 Oct 2001
|
| Ajax
look to be playing their away match against Heerenveen tomorrow wihout the
support of their fans - the clubs are in disagreement over the amount of
tickets Ajax supporters should be allocated, the Amsterdammers wanted 600
but Heerenveen only wanted to give 395. The KNVB turned down a proposal to
create
more space and Heerenveen have no intention of spreading an extra 200 Ajax
fans throughout the Abe Leenstra stadium with the implied risk of crowd
trouble. Ajax have decided, in turn, not to sell any advance tickets for the
match. |
| Groningen
draw 1 - 1 with Heerenveen |
21 Oct 2001
|
| Groningen
lineup: Beukenkamp, Allach, Schoenmakers, Van Gessel, Elshot, Boussaboun,
Matthijs, Krstev, Broerse, Tuhuteru and Robben.
Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Venema, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Talan, Radomski,
Jensen, Nurmela, Allbäck and Lurling.
This 'Duel-of-the-North'
was
a scrappy match with plenty of fouls early on, which broke up the flow of
play, both teamsng aggressively. Groningen managed to halt
Heerenveen's attempts to string moves together but didn't know what to do
with the ball when they won it, which led to much loss of possession. Mike Nurmelad the score
for the visitors when his freekick was deflected in by Schoenmakers in the 31st minute.
Schoenmakers made good by sending Ali Boussaboun off to coolly equalize in the
37th.
|
| Heerenveen
hire Kolk to RKC |
15 Oct 2001
|
| Heerenveen
have hired Santi Kolk to RKC for the rest of the season. The 20 year-old
striker, who's in his 2nd season with Heerenveen but sees little action,
has also managed to negotiate an option for the Waaalwijkers to buy him if
he impresses.
|
| Heerenveen
beat AZ 2 - 1 |
13 Oct 2001
|
| Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Venema, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Holm, Radomski,
Jensen, Nurmela, Allbäck and Denneboom.
AZ
lineup: Moens, Lee, Wijker, Opdam, Lindenbergh, Robbemond, Buskermolen,
Van Galen, El Hadrioui, Elkhattabi and Huiberts.
Heerenveen have had an inconsistent
start to the season including a win against PSV, but they dropped points against Den Bosch
and lost 1 - 2 to Utrecht last Wednesday. AZ have looked good at times
in their equally inconsistent start to 2001/2002 but have been unable to
convert their chances into goals scored. Michael Buskermolen blasted one
in from an Elkhattabi pass to put them ahead in the 7th minute. Marcus Allbäck
had several chances to score for the home team, but misjudged them all, so Daniël Jensen's
equalizer (tapped in from a rebound off the woodwork) came as a relief in
the 36th. Heerenveen were sharper in the 2nd half and Allbäck finally scored a 2nd for them in
the 61st while the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Max Huiberts got a
red card in the 68th. After that the home team were happy to defend out
the last half an hour while AZ were no longer able to offer
resistance.

| Heerenveen
lose to Utrecht 1 - 2 |
10 Oct 2001
|
| Heerenveen
lineup: Vonk, Venema, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman, Talan, Radomski,
Jensen, Nurmela, Allbäck and Denneboom.
Utrecht
lineup: Wapenaar, Vreven, Touzani, Zwaanswijk, Bosschaart, Tanghe,
Jean-Paul de Jong, Van Mol, Jochemsen, Kuyt and Van den Bergh.
Utrecht won their first away match
of the season and Heerenveen lost their first home match tonight.
Heerenveen started off well, Mike Nurmela's pass finding a thankful Romano Denneboom
who headed in for the 1 - 0 after 11 minutes of play. As the match
progressed Utrecht came into their own, Stefaan Tanghe equalizing in the 35th
as both teams put on an entertaining, attacking spectacle for the fans to
enjoy. Utrecht were the better side in the 2nd half and debutant Arco Jochemsen
celebrated by scoring the
match-winner in the 48th. The Domstad side leapfrog Heerenveen in the
table to 6th place, the Frieslanders are now 7th.
|
| Roda
lose to Heerenveen 0 - 2 |
30 Sept 2001
|
| Roda
JC: Kalac, Sonkaya, Vrede, Luijpers, van Dessel, Zafarin,
Gregoor van Dijk, van der Luer, Nygaard, Anastasiou and Soetaers.
SC
Heerenveen: Vonk, Venema, Klompe, Gérard de Nooijer, Edman,
Talan, Radomski, Jensen, Nurmela, Allbäck and Denneboom.
Roda are still not out of the woods yet and
this afternoon had their noses rubbed in that fact by Heerenveen. The
visitors dominated the flow of play with their ever stronger looking
midfield and goals by Daniel Jensen and 'Mighty Swede'
Marcus Allbäck in the 4th and 47th gave Heerenveen 3 away points to take
home to Friesland and lift them into 4th place behind Feyenoord.
|
| Southampton
make 2nd bid for Allbäck |
29 Sept 2001
|
| Heerenveen
beat PSV 4 - 1 |
22 Sept 2001
|
| SC
Heerenveen lineup: Vonk, Venema, Klompe, Gérard
de Nooijer, Edman, Jensen, Radomski, Talan, Nurmela, Allbäck and
Denneboom.
PSV
lineup: Kralj, Faber, Nikiforov, Addo, Bouma, Van Bommel, Vogel, Ramzi,
Rommedahl, Kezman and Bruggink.
PSV
failed to build on their 'comeback' (a midweek 3 -1 C-L home win against
Galasataray) with a weak away performance in Heerenveen. They fielded
pretty much the same team as played the Turkish side on Tuesday except
that Nikifirov was back, pushing out Jürgen Colin, while Ivica Kralj
replaced Waterreus. Anthony Lurling was missing (hamstring injury) for the
Frieslanders who put on a spirited performance and had severalng chances before the 'Mighty Swede' Marcus Allbäck found the back
of the net from a Jeffrey Talan pass in the 13th minute. Romano Denneboom
headed in the 2nd from a freekick in the 26th. PSV came back, against the
flow of play, when Dennis Rommedahl scored in the 39th but only really
started to look better after the break. Unfortunately for them Daniel
Jensen's attempt for Heerenveen was deflected passed goalie Kralj by
Colin's legs to restore the gap in the 61st. Mike Nurmela headed in from
an Allbäck pass to make it 4 - 1 in the 66th minute. From then on the
champions looked disillusioned and uninspired, a shadow of last season's
team, even the appearance of Vennegoor of Hesselink made no impression.
The result is a disappointing one for the PSV squad and coach Eric Gerets
after last week's rays-of-hope. They've already lost 11 points and can't
afford to allow the steady trickle to go on for much longer! Foppe de
Haan, on the other hand, will be well pleased.

| Heerenveen
beat Willem II in shoot-out |
19 Sept 2001
|
| Heerenveen
beat Willem
II
in a penalty shoot-out to put the "Tricolores" out of the Amstel
Cup. The Frieslanders dominated play but Daniel Jensen, Anthony Lurling and
Marcus Allbäck, in particular, all missed scoring opportunities. The
"Tricolores" were fortunate to have keeper Geert de Vlieger in top
form to keep out the Heerenveen onslaught. In the 2nd half Willem II began
to get into the match while Heerenveen remained the better team but still
couldn't translate that advantage into goals-on-the-board. A tense extra
time session followed where the better chances to score were for the
"Tricolores" but Ousmane Sanou hit the post and Tieme Klompe
managed to clear an attempt by Abdellaoui. Raymond Victoria's penalty misser
put Willem II out, and Heerenveen through to the next round. |
| RKC
want Tzetkov |
17 Sept 2001
|
| RKC
are planning to make Heerenveen an offer for Ivan Tzetkov who they see as
a replacement for Joey Gudjonsson, the young Icelandic player who recently
moved to Real Betis Sevilla. The 22 yeard-old Bulgarian striker has made
few appearances in the last 3 seasons since joining Heerenveen in 1997 but
has done better with Eerste Divisie Veendam. He was the club's top scorer
last season with 18 goals to his name and has already put 5 away this
season.
|
| Southampton
interested in Marcus Allbäck |
12 Sept 2001
|
| Southampton
have made an official bid for Heerenveen's 'Mighty Swede' Marcus Allbäck
and the Frieslanders could be tempted to sell the 28 year-old striker. He's
become an important player for them since joining the club
from Swedish side Örgryte IS during last
season's winter-break. However, even though he's happy with Heerenveen, it remains his dream to play in
the Premier League. There was a new clause
put in his contract making him worth €3.4 million Euros in May and that
means "The Saints" will have to pay considerably more than that plus
offering him a much better salary than he now takes home if he's to make the
move.
|
| Heerenveen
drop points to Vitesse 1 - 1 |
07 Sept 2001
|
| Both teams have
got off, on paper at least, to a fine start - no defeats and no goals
against them - and they both want to earn the chance to play
European football next season. However, Vitesse had a rough ride last
season and their 0 - 0 draw in Limburg against Fortuna during theirng match disappointed. They did better against AZ with a 1 - 0 win.
New 'star' Rahamat Mustapha Riga, scorer of that loan goal, had to make
way tonight for the back-from-injury Martel and Sikora
while Jimmy van Fessem (bought from Willem II) replaced the
departed-for-Feyenoord Edwin Zoetebier in goal and Bob Peeters also had to
sit it out on the bench! Heerenveen had only managed a
0 - 0 draw in theirr against newly promoted Den Bosch (not to be
underestimated this season by their bigger brothers, they could turn out
to be giant-killers yet!) but followed it up with a most convincing 5 - 0
against NAC (with a 'hot duo' performance from Anthony Lurling and Marcus Allbäck).
They will be seeking to establish a consistency this time
round that deserted them last season after their short-lived Champions
League adventure. Daniël
Jensen scored ther in the 33rd minute but Heerenveen neglected to
build on their advantage despite controlling the game - they were simply
off-target tonight. Vitesse had little of their own to bring into the game
and former Ajacied Michel Kreek missed a penalty for them in the 82nd. The
visitors still managed to sneak away with a point though when Remco van
der Schaaf got the equalizer in the 85th after earlier hitting the bar
with a header.

| Heerenveen
sign Greek youngster |
22 Aug 2001
|
| Heerenveen
have signed Georgios Samaras on a contract for two years with an option
for 3 seasons extra. The 16 year-old 1 metre 93 cm tall striker is
the son of former player Yiannis Samaras who also coached OFI Crete for a
short while last season. |
| Den
Bosch hold Heerenveen to goalless draw |
19 Aug 2001
|
| Newly
promoted Den Bosch did well in their first Ere Divisie performance with a
goalless draw against Heerenveen. Foppe de Haan's team will be grateful
that they didn't lose against the home team who created more and betterngs than themselves throughout the match against a strong team with
'real pretensions' who badly want to recreate their successes of the
1999/2000 season. |
| Heerenveen
sign Juska Savolainen |
16 Aug 2001
|
| Heerenveen
are signing Finnish youth international Juska Savolainen from HJK Helsinki
- he'll be playing for the club's A-youth team. The 17 year-old midfielder
joins Erik Edman (Sweden), Allan Bak Jensen (Denmark) and the Fin Mika Väyrynen
who all signed this summer. Foppe de Haan's side had already 'bagged' the
Norwegian Thomas Holm, the Fin Mika Nurmela and the Danes Jesper Håkansson
and Daniël Jensen. |
| Heerenveen
draw 1 - 1 against Zaragoza |
08 Aug 2001
|
| Paulo
Jamelli headed in ther for the Primera División club from a corner
in the 10th minute as the Spanish side profitted from the mistakes made by
the Frieslanders during the 1st half. It was a different Heerenveen after
the break, Jeffrey Talan and Daniel Jensen being brought on as
substitutes, and they earned a well deserved equalizer 5 minutes from time
when Marcus Allbäck gave Talan the chance to put one away. |
| Rafael
out for 6 weeks, others come back |
08 Aug 2001
|
| Heerenveen
will miss the help of Rafael Vieira for the next 6 weeks after the
Brazilian striker injured his ankle in training. Good news is that Mika
Nurmela and Tieme Klompe are back in training and 'Mighty Swede' Marcus
Allbäck is expected to rejoin the squad for training any day now. |
| Two
players leave Heerenveen |
25 July 2001
|
| Ian
Claes and Thomas Myssing have left Heerenveen. Myssing has had his
contract terminated by mutual consent and Claes is leaving to play for
Belgian side KV Mechelen. The striker joined the club from Sint Truiden
last year but has been unable to earn himself a regular place in the
Frieslanders' first team lineup. |
| Heerenveen
sign Erik Edman |
24 July 2001
|
| Heerenveen
have added another Swedish player to their squad with the signing of
former youth international Erik Edman. The 23 year-old can play in either
the left-half or left-back position and was also being followed with
interest by Feyenoord. He started his career with Helsingborg IF, moving
to Italian side Torino in the 1999/2000 season but didn't manage to get
into the team there and was lent to German club Karlsruhe. Since leaving
Torino he's played for AIK in Stockholm where he did get into the team. |
| Heerenveen
out of Intertoto Tournament |
22 July 2001
|
| Heerenveen
are out of the Intertoto tournament after a 2 - 3 home defeat by the
not-so-very-impressive Basel. Despite a 1st minute goal by Marcus Allbäck
it was the Swiss team who were 1 - 2 up by halftime, thanks to goals from
George Koumanterakis and Yakin. After the break Basel's Yakin got a 3rd to
seal Heerenveen's fate and Anthony Lurling scored a 2nd for the
Frieslanders but it was too little too late. |
| Van
Gessel returns to Groningen |
19 July 2001
|
| Heerenveen's
Sander van Gessel is returning for a year on loan to his former club
Groningen whio hace also taken out an option to buy him at the end of the
coming season. The 24 year-old midfielder previously played 8 seasons in
Groningen before moving to Friesland in August 2000. |
| No
Strasbourg contract for De Nooijer |
19 July 2001
|
| Heerenveen's
Dennis de Nooijer (he's transfer-free) is returning to Holland after being
told by French side Strasbourg, where he's been on trial, that they are
not going to offer him a contract. The striker's injury prone knee is the
stumbling block and he is disappointed that the club have taken so long to
make their decision. |
| Veendam's
Marcel Seip off to Heerenveen |
17 July 2001
|
| Veendam's
youth international Marcel Seep is being lent to Heerenveen. The two clubs
have a cooperation pact and, if the 19 year-old defender ripens to the
Frieslanders' satisfaction in their reserve squad, Veendam can expect a
nice sum of money when he signs a contract with the Premier Division
side. |
| Veendam
sign Heerenveen players |
16 July 2001
|
| Heerenveen
and Veendam have reached agreement over the transfer of Ivan Tzvetkov and
Ronnie Pander. The two clubs have a cooperation pact and the two players
in question have been on loan to Veendam for some time. The 21 year-old
Bulgarian scored 18 goals in 34 games for them last season while Pander
has been with them for two years (playing 20 matches last season and
scoring one goal). They will both be offered a contract for two years. |
| Heerenveen
lose to Basel 2 - 1 |
15 July 2001
|
| Heerenveen
have lost the 1st leg of their quarter final Intertoto match against Basel
2 - 1. George Koumantarakis (21st minute) en Hakan Yakin (14th minute)
gave the home team a 2 - 0 lead at halftime and Mike Nurmela got one back
for the Frieslanders in the 52nd. |
| Dennis
de Nooijer on trial with Strasbourg |
11 July 2001
|
| Heerenveen's
Dennis de Nooijer is on trial till the end of this week with French side
RC Strasbourg. The 32 year-old striker has a contract till 2002 but has
been given permission by the Frieslanders to leave the club. He's trained
once with the French team (coached by former Czech international Ivan Hašek)
and says that they equal to the Dutch sub-top. |
| Heerenveen
- Ajax postponed |
11 July 2001
|
| The
match between Heerenveen and Ajax planned for August 11th is to be
postponed due to the lack of enough on-duty police to take care of any
crowd trouble that may arise. There is as yet no new date for the match. |
| Heerenveen

08 July 2001
|
| Heerenveen
have reached the 3rd round of the Intertoto tournament by beating
Metalurgs Liepaja 6 - 1 at home after
losing 3 - 2 in Latvia. The mighty Swede Marcus Allbäck got a
hattrick - Daniel Jensen, Jeffrey Talan and Anthonie Lurling getting
the other goals - they now have two teams to beat in order to reach the
final round, starting with FC Basel. The 3 winners of the last knockout round get a place in the
UEFA Cup next season. |
| Heerenveen
lose 1st Intertoto match |
02 July 2001
|
| Heerenveen
have lost their first match of the Intertoto tournament against Liepajas
Metalurgs in Latvia 3 - 2. The Dutch side took the lead twice during the
match with goals by Romano Denneboom and Anthonie Lurling but the Latvians
proved the superior team. The Frieslanders get a chance to prove otherwise
in their Abe Lenstra stadium next weekend. |

Frieslanders travel away for theng match and expect to play the
return on July 7th. |
| Heerenveen
sign Allan Bak Jensen |
23 June 2001
|
| Heerenveen
have signed Allan Bak Jensen from Danish side FC Midtjylland on a contract
for 4 years. The 23 year-old right half was on trial with the Frieslanders
during their winter camp last January but had to leave Spain early with a
knee injury. He becomes the club's 5th Scandinavian player - Daniël
Jensen, Marcus Allbäck, Jesper Hakansson and Thomas Holm being the others
- and his new club are also apparently looking at another Danish player,
Peter Gravesen. |
| Ignacio
Tuhuteru signs for Groningen |
13 June 2001
|
| The
negotiations are over and striker Ignacio Tuhuteru has signed a
contract with Groningen for 3 years after moving from FC Zwolle to
Heerenveen at the beginning of the season. His new club have bought out
the 27 year-old's contract (he'd signed up for two years) for an
undisclosed sum. |
| Tuhuteru
to sign for Groningen? |
09 June 2001
|
| Heerenveen's
Ignacio Tuhuteru is close to moving to Groningen after the two clubs
agreed to the transfer. The 27 year-old former Ajax, RBC and Zwolle
striker joined Heerenveen in 2000 but has failed to secure a regular place
in the 1st team, making only 15 appearances last season. He's still to
agree personal terms with his new club but they expect that he will
replace Peter Hoekstra (on loan last season from Ajax and probably off to
Portugese side Vitória Guimarães). |
