21 Mar 2001
|
| Dwight
Lodeweges has changed direction after breaking
off talks with FC Twente about taking over as trainer and has signed
up with Groningen as replacement for Jan van Dijk (off to Roda JC). This
means, of course, that the highly-tipped-to-take-the-job
Martin Koopman will stay at Veendam until something better comes
along. Dwight played for the following clubs: VVOP (amateurs), Go Ahead
Eagles ), Edmonton Drillers ), Montreal Maniacs
(1983), Minnesota Strikers ), Go Ahead Eagles (due to a player

| Dwight
Lodeweges, currently trainer of Toto division side FC Zwolle, has called
off his move to Twente where he was to become the new

round-the-table session was planned for the coming week. |

| Zwolle
lose by a whisker to Twente 3 - 4 |
07 Feb 2001
|
| Twente
were in a generous (or careless) mood tonight. Within the first minute a
mistake by Dennis Hulshof allowed John den Dunnen tothe score. They
pulled alongside within a couple of minutes through Jan Vennegoor of
Hesselink in the 5th. Another defensive error by the visitors gave Zwolle
their 2nd goal - an own goal by Jeroen Heubach in the 23rd. Arjan van der
Laan got an equalizer in the 27th and Scott Booth put them ahead before
halftime in the 39th, 2 - 3. Zwolle worked hard in the 2nd half and there
was little to choose between the teams. Henk van Steeg missed an equalizer
for them while Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink made it 2 - 4 in the 77th.
Martijn Abbenhuës gave Zwolle some hope with a beautifully struck 3rd in
the 83rd but, despite a final assault on the visitors' goalmouth, it was
Twente's night. |
| Zwolle
win away at Emmen 4-2 |
31 Jan 2001

gave away an own goal to get the visitors going in the 1st minute! Richard
Roelofsen, John den Dunnen and Henk van Steeg took it to 4-0 before Bert
Zuurman got one back for the home side in the 72nd minute and followed it
up with another in the 87th. |
| Zwolle
sweep aside Heracles 5-1 |
28 Jan 2001
|
| Zwolle
swept aside Heracles 5-1 away in Almelo. The home team surprised the
visitors from Overijssel in the 3rd minute with a goal by Dennis te Braak
but Arjan Bosschaart scored twice before halftime for Zwolle. Heracles
tried to get into the match duing the 2nd half but were too disorganised
to really threaten - Richard Roelofsen, John den Dunnen and Claus Boekweg
(from a penalty) scored one each to take Zwolle, as last First Division
side, into the quarter finals and a home match against Twente. |

win the championship this season. Zwolle made clear their intentions by
beating a downbeat Den Bosch. Richard Roelofsen put them ahead just before

Zwolle surprise win over NAC 3 - 1 |
20 Oct 2000
|
| Arjan
Bosschaart gave himself a nice birthday present by scoring a hat trick in
FC Zwolle's FA Cup victory over NAC. Within 15 minutes Zwolle (4th in the
First Division) were 2 goals up thanks to good old Arjan. NAC's trainer
Hank ten Cate got so pissed off in the second half after the 3rd goal that
the referee banished him to the stands where he had to watch the rest of
the match from amongst the supporters. NAC's Rob Penders softened the blow
a little for his team by getting a goal back but the happy and victorious
Zwolle side go on to the last 16 of the tournament. |
