youth players in fire disaster? |
04 Jan 2001
|
| A
fire in a pub, which rocked the small town of Volendam on New Year's Eve,
has already killed 10 people while many others lie seriously injured in
intensive care units throughout Holland. Some of the injured may well be
members of the town's youth football teams (Volendam has a total of 83!
teams) and the Dutch FA are giving the club (and the close knit community)
time to get over the shock. No 1st team or reserve team players are
involved but some of the injured could well be members of the club's youth
squads. Volendam FC are currently 3rd in the Toto Division and their first
match of the 2nd half of the season will undoubtedly be of special
significance for the whole community. |
