Based in Enschede they emerged in 1965 after Sportclub Enschede (winners of the league in 1926) and Enschedese Boys joined forces. They play in red strip and their ground, the Diekman Stadium, can hold 13,500 spectators. FC Twente won the Dutch FA Cup in 1977.
