Graafschap earned themselves a point wth their 1 - 1 draw against NAC
which means unfortunate Fortuna will have to join Sparta in the playoffs. Earnest
Stewart gave NAC the lead in Doetinchem in the 23rd minute. Marino Promes
equalized in the 60th minute. The match began with a minute's silence as a
tribute to NAC's Ferry van Vliet who died in a car crash last Friday and
it ended with the De Graafschap's fans showing extra sympathy for the
Breda club by singing "You'll never walk alone". Fortuna put the
Tricolores under all kinds of pressure - Joos van
Barneveld scored for Fortuna in the 1st minute and the Tricolores' Jattoo
Ceesay replied a minute later. Dennis Gerritsen put the Sittardians ahead
again five minutes before the halftime whistle. Joost Volmer made it three
6 minutes into the 2nd half. Marco Heering added a 4th in the 72nd. It was
not enough to leapfrog De Graafschap for whom one point was suficient to
save them from the playoffs. had |
