have banned Edgar Davids from playing in international matches for the
same length of time as the Italian FA's suspension. It is a major piece of
bad news for Oranje as they prepare for this coming Saturday's World Cup
qualifier against Estland and a psychological blow for Dutch football.
Frank de Boer will be expecting the same treatment when FIFA meets on June
14th to discuss his case. In the meantime Barcelona's chairman Joan
Gaspart has threatened to sue UEFA if they hand out a ban to the Dutch
captain. At least he'll be representing his country in Estland and it will
be a test of his character to see how he leads Oranje through this crucial
match in their attempt to qualify for the World Cup. |
