| Ajax
and NAC raided by FIOD tax team |
28 May 2001
|
| Ajax
and NAC have both been paid a visit by tax investigators FIOD in connection with a
possible fraud involving the transfers of Shota Arveladze and Michael Laudrup
in Amsterdam and Shota's brother (former NAC player) Archil Arveladze in Breda. All the players
involved appear to have received cash-in-hand payments which were never
declared to the Tax authorities. Up to €2.2 million Euros remain unaccounted
for at Ajax, according to
the investigation team, while at the moment there's little information on
the specifics of the situation at NAC. Earlier this season Vitesse found themselves under investigation in connection with the 'Aalbers
affair',
Feyenoord were also investigated and, more recently, Ajax striker Nikos
Machlas. Trading in Ajax shares have been suspended (merely as a
precaution you understand)!! |
