Van Gaal sees Holland win |
16 Aug 2000
|
| Louis van Gaal's recent interviews
on Dutch television have shown a calmer man than in his years as former Ajax
manager. His approach, however, has certainly not changed. Leaving aside all
the complex technical and tactical analyses, he has come to one obvious
conclusion: Holland will only be successful if the combined talents of the
current crop of young players are
harnessed together and allowed to mature properly, and sooner rather than later, so
that they will develop and ripen collectively. During last night's friendly
against amateur side AGOVV
(9-0) three new talents made their first appearance for Holland, Twente's
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Wilfred Bouma, and PSV's Marc van Bommel.
Van Gaal said after the match, in which Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink scored a hat trick in the
second half, that he was extremely satisfied with the squad's performance. |
