| Feyenoord
and Vitesse do motor racing deal |
29 Nov 2000
|
| Feyenoord
and Vitesse, soon to be followed by Ajax and PSV, have struck a deal with
Formula One racing to take part in a series of special races in special
cars. The cars will be painted in club colours, carrying the club logos
and will be driven by drivers from the participating countries. The idea
for the coming together of the two sports is Colin Sullivan's, who had the
brainwave after his sale of Silverstone circuit in England fell through.
His love of both sports, and the fact that many football fans also like to
watch Formula One racing, inspired him to put the project together (for
which he has received sponsoring to the tune of €111,70 million Euros). He expects
that clubs will earn at least €1,12 million Euros annually. Real Madrid, AC Milan
and Manchester United are also taking part. |
