Mercimek goes to Sunderland |
14 June 2001
|
| Haarlem's
Baki Mercimek has signed a contract for 3 years with an option for 2 more
with English side Sunderland. The 18 year-old defender, who's apparently
seen by some members of the English press (and his new club) as the 'new
Jaap Stam', had gone in search of a new club after turning down a new
contract at Haarlem. He was equally uninterested in a return to Ajax but
is very happy with a move to the English Premiership with its combination
of physical and technical football. |
| Volendam
sign Haarlem's Dion Esajas |
16 May 2001
|
| Haarlem's
Dion Esajas has signed a contract with Volendam for 2 years. The 20
year-old striker played for Amsterdam amateur team DWS before moving to
the Toto side where he has made 84 appearances in 4 seasons and scored 19
times - this season being the club's top scorer with 9 goals to his name. |
| Four
Ajacieden on loan to Haarlem |
13 May 2001
|
| Four
Ajax players are being lent to Toto Side Haarlem in the developing
cooperation between the two clubs. The players are: Serginho Greene, Didi
Longuet, Youssef Hersi and Kevin Bobson. The first three are going
willingly (seeing it as preparation for a return to Premier Divison
action) while Bobson has been told he's
no longer welcome in Amsterdam. |
| Rob
Witschge new assistant at Haarlem |
30 Apr 2001
|
| Rob
Witschge is to join Heini Otto as assistant coach at Haarlem. The 34
year-old ex-international midfielder (with 31 caps to his name) played for
Ajax and Saint Etienne. He also played for Feyenoord but had to leave
after being declared persona non grata by Arie Haan. He eventually moved
on to Utrecht and, in 1998, left for Egypt's Al Ittihad where he ended his
career on the bench. |
| Heemskerk
and Kemper extend Haarlem contracts |
22 Mar 2001
|
| Haarlem's
25 year-old striker André Kemper has extended his contract with the club
till 2002 and reserve keeper Kenny Heemskerk has done likewise. Kemper has
scored 19 goals in 86 matches since joining the Ajax satellite club in
1998 while Heemskerk has been relegated to bench duty since the arrival of
hired-hand(s) Serge van der Ban from Ajax. |
| Haarlem
draw 1 - 1 with Heracles |
31 Jan 2001
|
| The
loyal few (1268 attended) watched Haarlem get their 6th point in 5 games
and finally get off the bottom rung of the table. Veendam are now last
because they've let more goals in than Haarlem (22 as opposed to 20).
Mendel Witzenhausen scored for Haarlem in the 66th minute from a penalty.
Robert Demirel equalized 5 minutes later for Heracles. |

Otto extends Haarlem stay till July 2002 |
26 Jan 2001
|
| Heini
Otto has decided to put another year in coaching Haarlem FC. The trainer
came to help out at the end of last year when Karel Bonsink got his
marching orders. He was previously on the technical staff at Ajax (with
whom Haarlem have a cooperation pact). |
| Helmond
Sport beat Haarlem 3 - 0 |
12 Dec 2000
|
| Haarlem's
alliance with Ajax hasn't helped them much yet - they held their own,
just, in the 1st half but had no chance in the 2nd and can count
themselves lucky that the scoreline was not greater than it was. Juul
Ellermand the score and Raoul Henar got 2 after the break to take
his season's total to 8. |
| Den
Bosch in home defeat by Haarlem 1 - 2 |
05 Nov 2000
|
| This
was a surprise defeat for the No.2 of Division 1 Den Bosch by bottom of
the table Haarlem. The fans must have been expecting something, anything
but this! Not to worry, they, and Telstar, remain 1 point behind
Excelsior at the top. This was Haarlem's first win of the season after
giving Excelsior something to chew on last week when they went 2 goals
ahead and squandered it, allowing the Rotterdammers to take it to a draw.
Fortified by the addition of Ajax's Mark Stuut (on loan and evidence of
the increased cooperation between the clubs) Van Essd the score for
the visitors in the 23 minute, Bond the 2nd just before the whistle for
half time. Van Eede scored Den Bosch's only goal in the 51st minute. |
| Haarlem
get new trainer - Heini Otto |
09 Oct 2000
|
| Heini
Otto is, as of today, the new trainer at FC Haarlem. He's been on
the Ajax training staff since 1994 and was lately looking after the B1
Juniors until today's announcement. Otto was assistant coach for two years
under Morten Olsen and replaces Karel Bonsink who resigned after Haarlem's
exit in the Amstel Cup. It comes as little surprise as Ajax and Haarlem
are entering into an alliance and have signed a provisional agreement
which should lead to a definitive contract with a signing by the middle of
next year. Haarlem are at the bottom of the Second (Toto) Division in
Holland. It looks as if Ajax intends to loan players from its own stalls
to its neighbours - hopefully it will give Haarlem a leg up (they lost
yesterday 0 - 4 at home to Ado Den Haag). |
